The small victory
Or maybe it's not small victory. Anyway
At this weekend I made my little cousin, his girlfriend and one more guy stop smoking!
Well, take it as you want, but for me it's a great event in my life. Yes, I'm very 'anti-smoker' and I will try to do everything to make my friends stop smoking if they start.

I forced my parents to stop smoking years ago, so I guess my victory was greater than yours

Why would you force anyone to do something? I think people (especially your parents) should be mature enough to make their own decisions and stand by them. If someone wants to smoke and knows the consequences for heavens sake let him smoke.

Well, you're right Aza. As I like to say, "if one hasn't brains, he wouldn't get them". I don't try to stop people who already got addicted to smoke, because it's senseless, they wouldn't listen to me anyway. But still every my friend who smokes gives me a bit of hurt.
But when people only started to do it and they still don't realize what it would cause, I think I should 'resque' them.

It took my few years to make my mother quit (she's been smoking since grade school) and then my father who picked it up after her

Nice That's more than a small victory.
Smoking is such a horrendous habit to break the deeper you get into it. I've never been able to get a friend to stop smoking. It's even worse when they're constantly complaining about being short on money and I'm just like "grrr... quit smoking  "

Yeah, I understand you. I have communicated with smokers a lot and I know their nature very good. Most of them start to smoke "because everybody is smoking". To be homest I just hate this kind of thoughts. Why should you go with the flow and do what others do? Are you human or rag? Often in such situation I ask them: "If your friends ask you to stab knife in your chest or jump down from the roof, would you do it? Smoking is same but in much smaller scale. And to be honest, I don't think that friend, who want your death is a real freind".
By the way, if you think that I easily managed to make mentioned people to stop it, you are wrong. It took two whole days of lectures and notations to do it.

By the way my cousin said that I should give a lectures in schools because I have good influence.

Ah yes. Actually my information technology teacher from high-school wanted me to give lectures on it cause I outsmarted her in all aspects (not surprising since no real programmer would become a teacher...). She was a former math teacher that quickly learned programming so... the teaching was kinda disastrous, but at least she admitted.

Oh, that's something interesting, because I'm going to be a programmer too.
I never wanted to be a teacher. After all that time I spent on humans, I got so tired of them that I decided to go on the same job as my brother was going. To be honest I can't say I don't enjoy it.

I like your idea about extra lectures,I'm totally with you with this.Anyway,I'd suggest try continuing it,make an "anti-smoke" team with your best friends and then you can start.
I'm sure you will be succesful but well,it's your decision,I don't want to make people to do things which they doesn't like
@Azzie: I understand you,but the unmature thing is that choice of smoking,choice of destroying your life
@Lex: I find that more funny than useful Anyway,even crazy ideas are better than saying in words (because A LOT of people simply don't understand why smoking really is - a really bad thing)
