Logistics is a must but I usually give it up in early games when other skills are more important. Around lvl 10, it becomes an always pick.
For other skills, this will depend on which faction you are playing. Enlightment is good, but for sylvan or babarian, there are more important skills(att, luck, light, morale, def)

Logistics, easily. I like to get somewhere during my turns, which is hard when you are navigating unfamiliar terrain without Pathfinding.
And Snatch is just gold on a map with lots of islands.

Logistics is awesome, no arguing. It has some very good perks, namely Swift Mind, Teleport Assault, Snatch, Gate Master...

Well, I don't really like logistics for the same reason I don't like defense. It's good, but it's never essential.
For example, A warlock. Well, destructive magic is quite necessary, and usually a very good choice for warlocks. Luck is quite important too, warlocks luck can be alot of help. Then sorcery too, you need to be able to cast those spells. Then don't forget enlightment, or else you'll miss out on alot of spellpower, as well as other stats.
That leaves us with 1 apot left, which could be taken by your starting skill. If noy, you still need to level alot to fill it.
I mean, logistics and defense are good to have, but they're kinda jack of all trades. There are usually more important things that fill your spots.

Last Stand and Swift Mind tell me otherwise
Warlock's Luck never trigger when it's needed, always when you cast on small stacks which would die anyway. Well, at least that's my experience.

Quote: Well, I don't really like logistics for the same reason I don't like defense. It's good, but it's never essential.
I just had a game on hard when Urghat was the AI primary hero (my Wizard didn't get Logistics). Thanks to the map layout she could just run in circles (cowardly AI of course, her forces were better than mine) and always stay well ahead. Until the AI decided to make a detour to flag one of my mines.
Logistics isn't essential as a combat or magic skill, but it has it's definite advantages when chasing heroes (or retreating from them).

Can't say I've gotten that much mileage out of it either. Then again my games also tend to refuse my troops good morale whenever I get Empathy with 5+ morale.

That's four skel1977.
Actually I cast my vote for Enlightenment but it really depends on the map. It's not an easy choice as Logistics, Defence and Dark Magic are among my favourite skills. Still Enlightenment means more XP, better stats, nice perks and... Mentoring (most useful on big maps but that's the way I like it).

It's not always that all heroes are gaining the exact same amount of XP (it would be a rare sight, actually). Enlightenment helps you widen the level gap between heroes if your hero is gaining more XP than the other hero, or lessen it if the other hero is gaining more XP than you (if you have Enlightenment and the other hero doesn't).
Luck/Leadership are my favorites, followed closely by Logistics/Enlightenment.
