Did you hear the cannon go off? Even a long way off those things make a noise that pound the heart strings. Can't believe people actually fought with hundreds of them things going off constantly.

yea. they shot a few salvos from it in day two. and at day one they had a miniature version of it. that thing as well was loud, but not as the big guy.
No wonder canoneers were near deaf back in the day.

medieval festivals are the ****. i went to one gathered in and around a near-devastated castle in germany, years ago. they had a merry band of people who played bagpipes and drums for a music show. that was awesome. i still have the clay souvenir beer cup i bought there that i drank out of. i wish i could've taken a set of bagpipes and a drum home, instead. or a mace or something else wicked.

lol, although kip went to a historic military war festival, and not a medieval one... i'm tired, don't judge me.

there was very little of napoleonic and modern military exhibits. the main attraction was medieval combat, crafts, musicians and a jester/equilibrist dude.
heck, the modern military exhibit was only for one day.
made some "peacekeeping" mission hardened grunts feel ashamed and awkward, as I knew more about the guns they displayed then they did.
had a little shooting range with airsoft guns, nailed five out of five shots. left the dumb basterds whispering amongst themselves.
anyway, it was a good weekend.

@ orzie: what a cool-ass playground. i miss the days when playgrounds used to have more fun stuff like rock walls, and these:
sadly, i never see them anymore. "oooooh, my baby got hurt! let's remove that piece of equipment! it's too dangerous!"
**** you, parents who want the entire world to be your child's safety blanket. **** you.

Yeah, I also think that equipment like this only enriches the childhood impressions and, what is more important, the imagination. What does not kill us - makes us stronger.
Fortunately, in tyrannical Russia we do have things like these in abundance.

wow, that playground is a good example of recycling or crap.
out here installing a playground would require funds from the Bums of Brussels.

plenty of them. well, except maybe in the newly built apartment blocks, and the old ones built by the commies are detoriating fast.
most are a waste of money imo, as things like in Orzie's pic aren't done.
all must be new and flashy and funded by the EU.
nearly every park here at some point had a sign which pointed out what was being done with the EU money.
same goes for other infrastructure projects. It's getting really pathetic lately.

Our tank which is shown on my photo was made by parents themselves. The kids are really amazed of that stuff, they get off from it only at dawn. I think the gunpoint is made from water pipe
However, our housing companies also contribute to that stuff. Many funny examples can be found in Google. A bit of relic since the soviet times, but the kids don't complain of course - they like these constructions as is, and use the imagination to complete the picture. Ah, those were sweet times. I wish I had a similar tank in my yard when I was a kid - but it is situated in another town, 3000km far from mine.
