But seriously, looking at this kind of photos makes me miss those times, they always give that vibe of peace and prosperity, even though there were two world wars in the 20th century...
It also reminds me of my old house (before we moved part of the furniture of the living room), maybe that's the reason it gives me melancholy.
Apart from that, I have to remind myself to find some photos of my grandparents, I think I have a photo of my grandfather in his youth when he joined the army...

It recalls me that old joke about Alexandre Dumas (he was black). Once at a fancy dinner party, a Frenchman joked that Dumas' great-grandfather was a monkey. Dumas turned to him and retorted, "That's right. My family started where yours left off."

If you go down that road, we'ra all "mestizo" to a degree, almost nobody is racially pure. Are Afro-Americans not black? They are much more brownish compared to actual Africans, some even paler than Arabs or the Spanish. People mix.
His point is, if you had any blacks in your paternal line, socially you were considered "a colored person" in the 19th century and all of the discrimination still applied, it didnt matter if one of your parents were white (as we can also clearly see from the example Dumas had to face).

I'm actually glad people are discussing Dumas' race in an obscure internet forum. Makes me have faith in humanity.
@artu: going down that road is specifically what I don't wanna do. You see, I'm pretty sick of this race concept some 19th century racist idiots made for themselves.
It's degrading to people and prevents them from seeing reality (as in, people's true identity, which concerns them), and I like dealing with reality, that's all.
