If still does not work then I have no clue why...
Yes, I did. As I said above, I can remove that file entirely, and then it'll load... but it still doesn't run. It's very strange.
Hm, I just realized. I can start a new game of 300 just to do the find. I'll see if it works in a new game.

Then its wine, because a mod always loads when its erm file is added. And of course, you must never remove the "load these scripts only" file - even for testing, that file ensure the scenario is playable under specific conditions.

Why? If the only mods I have installed are ones listed in that file, then it's not really doing anything, right?
Did you get a chance to see what was up with the Philomena quest?

Ok, I loaded the save, gave Gorgo 200 mvm points using the trainer, visited Philomena, she took flowers then gave me the medallion. Then visited Sostratos, he rewarded me with 7000 gold and married Philomena. So it works okay here.

Well that's just weird. It doesn't work for me... until right before Xerxes shows up. Then it does. Bizarre.
I also figured out the Luck-based quest, by starting a new game. "Find Me" works fine there. Still won't work in my existing game. (The fountain only working if you have no luck is strange. Why would you do that?) Also it appears you need to actually visit all the luck locations; using the flower (clover) instead doesn't work.
Anyway... I'm now down to the very end. I've fought Xerxes three times, and every time, I burn down the dracoliches and titans, then kill Xerxes. But all the azures are still alive, and when my turn ends, the game freezes with the first azure outlined in gold. Argh. :-( Any idea how I can get this to not crash so I can finish the game?
I typically kill Xerxes with about 560-580 spartans left.
Thanks! In case it matters, here's a save game from right before the Xerxes fight: https://we.tl/t-VAISbDqKZk

In mod manager, right click on WoG mod then select plugins. Make sure that the plugin "game bug fixes.dll" is activated. That plugin prevents this resurrect bug.

It's already activated... now what?
What do you mean "resurrect bug"?

And... it's not long at all, unless you bring back a lot more enemies when there's nothing left but 6 azure dragons. (I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to kill those guys, honestly. 100% block, and I have no direct damage spells.)

Xerxes(the commander) casts armageddon when retaliating, he must kill his azures, not you.

Aha! I wondered if that was it. Seemed unlikely to me, I guess I should have given you credit for being that twisty!
I'll try it again, hopefully with the azures dying before him I won't run into that bug.

I was able to beat it that way. Score of 1676, though I'm sure I could do better now that I've played through that fight once. I'd have to spend more archers earlier meleeing Xerxes.
Actually getting him to retaliate is a pain in the ass, since he can't retaliate against any of the Spartans (except the 150 level-0 reinforcements). He also won't armageddon if he kills the stack.
This was really a fantastic map. Very different flavor from the usual HOMM3, and that by itself is a real achievement. Amazing job! And thanks for supporting this.
Edit: Oh yeah... Three final questions:
1) What are the reinforcements you're supposed to get against Xerxes? I got a ton of archers but only 150 level-0 Spartans. The picture of the fight you posted (from the earlier version of the map) shows a bunch of 150-unit spartan stacks. So how many Spartans are you really supposed to get?
2) If you play the death order, the help file says Gorgo doesn't get the 2000-point movement bonus from the horse race. Is that really true, and is there no way to make up for it? (Not to mention, you don't get Logistics, instead you get Pathfinding.) How can you possibly complete all the quests then?
3) I saw comments about scores of 7000 and 15000. Is that really possible? I did all the quests and collected gold from all the citizens each week, and bought all the Spartans I could. I lost only a few before Xerxes - maybe 20? - and wound up with 600 or so at the start of the Xerxes fight. Losing none, I'd have a score of 2400. Or 3000 if I managed to save all the extra 150 reinforcements. So how did people score 7000-15000??

The score multiplies the difficulty choosen (your was 4?) with the spartans alive, so ~2000 should be fine I think. I don't recall anyone doing more, or maybe I changed the way the score calculated in some of updates. but not important.
For reinforcements, if you finished Theron quest, you should get (I look right now in the script) 5x4000 archers and 4x150 spartans. Did you split your army before the fight? Maybe one of your stacks prohibited a new one to be placed.
Orders have very different outcomes, I remember the death order was the easiest because Gorgo gets very strong and kills everyone around. Also some quests can be done only with one order or the other.
Sorry, not able to give very precise infos, I tried to look in the script and as expected, is a nightmare, 20k code lines but no indications where to look for this or that, which was fixed in my next maps. So it would take hours even for me to get exactly how things worked. Congrats for having the patience to finish it and thanks for very valuable feedback, if I ever update, here is where I will look.

Yup, 4. If the reinforcements count in the score I should be able to do way better than 2000, now that I have your answer (below). In the maps4heroes discussion, one person talks about 7000, and another (and you) talk about 15000. But I think you did change scoring, because you talked about him needeing to have 3300 spartans to be able to score 15000 (or 150000, you used both numbers). Either way, that's not 3300x4, so something is definitely different.

Huh. Interesting. I only got a single 150 stack. My split was 3x1 and 4x about 153 spartans (my archers finally died to the phoenixes and devils). Now you make me want to try it again - I'll try 3x200 and see if I get more reinforcements. With more of them I should be able to get many more retals from Xerxes earlier on... though his attack-all-around is annoying; I suspect the optimal configuration is two melee attacks per round.

It's plenty easy with life also; the only thing that stymied me for a bit was the liches, though I finally realized the answer was as simple as doubling her health (not just her speed, which is really mandatory), which allows her to survive long enough for a couple stacks of air elems to kill them all. I wouldn't even have had to do that, except one of JV's puzzles removed all her ranks.
I still wonder, in general, can a death-order Gorgo complete most/all the quests?

Not at all, the support you provide anyway is extraordinary. And I'm happy to have provided whatever useful info I have.
Thank you again for a really memorable experience.

I did the fight one more time, with proper reinforcements (see below). Scoring over 2000 was trivial; 2200 is probably easy for a good player, but I was in a rush. Apparently the reinforcement Spartans are *not* counted in the score (which is the right call, I think).

Sure enough, with 3x200 I got the proper reinforcements. But why? With seven stacks, reinforcements aren't blocked. Weird.
