Chrono Trigger
(Because someone had to create this thread)
I played the SNES version a few years ago, and got the DS remake last Friday.
They add some new features in the DS version, as well as changing the font and sharpening the graphics. Also you get treats like anime cutscenes at pivotal plot points, as well as a bonus video (intro video), that makes me wish Akira Toriyama would just draw an anime series based on the Chrono Series (heck, I'd be happy if they took all of the supposed ideas for a sequel to Chrono Cross and made that an anime. ).
Some of the conversations change, and Frog speaks in normal English (if you've played the SNES version, you may recall he sounds Shakespearean). Also, unless I'm that good at CT already, I seem to notice a general difficulty nerf. I barely had trouble with a certain boss that can spam Shadow Magic and he was owning me in the SNES version.
This is definitely one of the best RPG's of all time. The plot is incredible and is food for thought. A lot of the music tracks are also incredible as well (I love Desolate World; that's the track that plays in the Future World Map).
And I'll admit that I have an animeish crush on Marle (Princess Nadia).

For some reason games with such graphics don't attract me, no matter how good they were.

Been there, done that.
They deserve my cash though, they really do, at least for this game.

I agree! THe game was good. I was not a fanatic like most though I enjoyed it a great deal. My favorite character was Frog. I think his original name was thon. I also liked magnus, if I correctly name the initial high level character in purple, then claps for me lol
I do not remember what character combination I used. It's funny, I am pretty sure it was for SNES but I am a bit confused because wasn't there a sequel for PS1? I had chrono cross as well and basically decided I had other hings to do than figure out how to leave that insane cartoonish strange gesture /clown area.
Slightly off topic is, the most meaningful game to me is Lunar the silver star. The DS completely butchered EVERY LAST ASPECT of that game!! Beast races, etc.. the combat would only get you items, OR exp when there should be an option to get both, man, that game on DS totally ****ed! Because I was a lunar fanatic, even though the game was horrible, I deemed to play it through which was way to easy. This required me to purchase two DS's because my first was ... traded for survival purposes. DS lunar is a strong donotbuy and this does not only go to the lunar original fanatics, but to anyone because the game did not only set a bad example for lunar, but it is a blemish in gaming history. Very easy to beat, the final boss was no challenge and I did not even attempt to max out my characters, the only mini quests involved a stupid "job" thing where you fight monsters until you aquire so many items, and the occasional "deliver from here to here". It was utterly horrible gaming experience and I would be surprised to find anyone who thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am glad to hear they did great with chrono trigger, a more popular game which inspired many to be fanatics. Compared to that massive crowed of players, I was one of very few LTSS fanatics. Not only was that game my very favorite to play, but I went through major life changes when I walked away from the console...
There is probably no other game as large as lunar (which is not huge though) that I know better even after 10+ years of being lunar free. Though Zelda was my first adventure type of game, LTSS was what turned me on to RPGs. I would probably not be here in HC had I never rented Lunar and bought it.
I am sure a lot more people feel this way about chrono trigger, which was more dynamic with a larger gaming world which also had time travel.

You dont have to be a fanatic.
You can play it once & remember the game.
It is part of the Square enix (Square soft) great RPG that came out.
I love the story, the game, the music. I am always interested in time travel, even though there is probally no evidence that it exixts.
I think my fav Square enix RPG excluding FF is Secret of Mana. Only slightly.
Not those other bogues remakes, but the original game.
