Violent inpiration
i just got a violent stroke of inspiration. A split second of thought.
According to wikipedia:

If this is true there is the following possibility.
A portal is found to Enroth after an expedition deviates of its original course and finds the mysterious portal. In order for that to happen the action needs to take place in a remote place, not populated by any faction(or else it would have already been found).
So far there is no mention of an island faction so we say that the portal is on an uncharted island Waaay out to sea. We say Humans have discovered it.
Okay so im sure those kind of people that like to pick things apart because they simply love logic(Doomforge) will ask Why Humans?
Its a matter of taste. I simply like the idea of surly seamen rather than a few hyper gremlins running things.
Logic:
We simply say that he/she distrusts magical creatures (granted its a strange trait in a wizard  ).
Or that the original crew got lost on the way and he/she had to hire a new crew last minute.
Now back to the plot.
They shipwreck on a deserted island, and the wizard simply says to the crew “Search the island for shelter and supplies! Il be in my quarters”(yes its quite a cliquish but what can you do about it?)
We find the island men(whatever they are) and whoever discovered it returns to the place of the shipwreck and informs everyone but he/she was followed by the island men and they are captured and made to walk through the magical portal(which they worship, so you can tell these guys are even dumber than the orcs) as a pose to jumping in the volcano. Unfortunately for those that walk through the portal its only a one way portal so they cant go back through(faulty portals ). After the destruction of Enroth a new crust formed and the rain didnt release its water yet(magical spell?) and it started raining a few moments after they arived(Noahs flood ). Thankfully the island men push the boat through the portal thinking it “Evil contraption made by devil, trow in portal now!” and you have a set amount of time to collect all the treasure and fight Island men that hid in the boat(Sorry, I guess youll have to stay in the dark ages a couple more centuries).
You get in the boat just before the water level gets high enough to drown you. There is one last portal left open and now you have to wait for the water level to rise high enough for you to get to the portal(its suspended above ground) What now? There are a few more resources lying around plus on the other side of the portal sea giants raided the island men and look through the portal, and to them it tastes like paradise(they eat pure water so theres plenty of food for them). They decide to go through it and are angered by the presence of the boat. Objective is to survive all the attacks made by the giants. Go through the portal... Giants assume you were killed. The ships momentum caries you a few feet from the portal but you stop suddenly and wake to find a place similar to Ashan but it is actually Axeoth. The hero jumps down and revels in the beauty and thanks the gods that he is back home. “poke” “poke” Turns around to find a cross bow pointing at his head. “You want to explain what youre doing in the kings orchard?”
