bixies how to read comicbooks
(almost wrote comicboobs there)
anyway, comic books, I'm sure you have seen a lot, comic books, graphic novels, page by page, panel by panel, they are awesome, aren't they.
I have a massive store of them, everything from the Watchmen to Wanted, from the League of extraordinary gentlemen to the boys, from Top 10 to Arkham asylum: a serious house on a serious earth.
what these are is a how to get into the mind frame before reading the comic books (it could apply to anything), to get the most out of reading it in 5 easy steps as well as a short description.
ok, lets get rolling
the Boys
when superheroes are becoming careless and decadent, the CIA resurrect their anti-supes unit to check the long underwear brigade. under the Leadership of the smiling but ruthless Billy Butcher, Conspiracy nut Wee Hughie and the Boys are back to expose, wrangle, harass, bully and beat the superheroes back into line.
step 1: Thin Lizzy's "The boys are back in town" is a good start. Listen to it a couple of times before you open the book, it gets you into the mind set.
step 2: feel an instant pang of sympathy for what happens to Wee hughie within 5 pages of the book.
step 3: read on and understand why Billy Butcher has such a hatred for these superheroes.
step 4: find a new found respect for the french, and wonder whether the girl from "Ringu" will ever play the part of the Female.
step 5: wish that you have a bull terrier called Terror, and who acted exactly like Billy's Dog.
