Well I am not sure on the dates of the following, so I thought I would discuss a couple of songs.
These songs were everywhere, and people absolutely loved them (including me). Yet now, they do not admit to it. In fact I think people would rather get ran over by a fleet of tractors then admit it.
The first is Baha Men - Who let the dogs out. An absolute favorite in dance clubs, and people would go crazy for it (that and The roof is on fire). I swear you could hear the trademark barking 2 blocks away. For NOBODY listening to this song, it sure was around a lot.
Then was Sisqo - Thong Song. I think the females kinda caused this song to die a horrible death, but I for one thought that it was FUN.
Ricky Martin - Shake your bon bons. Ok it was no living la vida loca, but it was catchy!
Aqua - Barbie World - It was the most annoying, most irritating song ever. So why did I even hear it in my sleep?

Groovy, its the Hep Cat Mytical back with the 1970's ((Ok I am not actually sure how they talked in the 70's but meh)). Break out your lava lamps and peace signs, here come the 1970's all over again.
Do you think I'm Sexy - Rod Stewert - Well no..but the song sure was.
Dancing Queen - Abba - Abba ROCKS.
Play that funky music - Wild Cherry - Never knew much about the band, but this song is fun to listen to.
Shining Star - Earth, Wind, and Fire - It was Earth, Wind, and Fire..need I say more?
Locomotion - Grand Funk - Come on do the locomotion with me!
Bad Bad Leroy Brown - Jim Croce - Cause it was the baddest song in the whole dang town.
War - Already covered this one, but fun to mention again.
B.J Thomas - Raindrops keep falling on my head. I liked.
Your So Vain - Carly Simon - I bet you thought this song was about you..didn't you?
Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas. Come on, it was a fun song.
Hotel California - Eagles. Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice, we were all just prisoners to this song, of our own device...
Hot Child in the City - Nick Glider. Nick WHO? But the song rocked.
Heart of Glass - Blondie - IT'S BLONDIE.
Half-Breed and Gypsies, Tramps, and Theives - Cher. Awesomeness at it's most awesome.

So no interest in coming clean about music? Should I dive into music from 2000-2009? Discuss Eagles Music (some of the best music ever)? Fold up the record player and go home?

Here is a couple more of those Awesome songs, Bad Songs, and Awesomely Bad songs.
Tiffany - I think we are alone now. Almost every teen age boy dreamed of Tiffany. Every girl wanted to be her. The song was good too. Get somebody to admit it though.
Safety Dance - Men Without Hats. Hope they at least wore hard hats when called for..
Everybody have fun tonight - Wang Chung - Everybody Wang Chung tonight? What in the heck did that mean. Still a fun song.
Some Girls Dance with Women - JC Chasez. Ok besides the fact that the artist isn't very good (imo) what is wrong with this song!?
Broken Wings - Mister Mister - I love this song. Why does nobody else admit this is a decent song!?
Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up. Ok so it is part of being 'rick rolled'. I still like the song.
Phil Collins - Sussudio - Sure it sounds like he has a stuttering problem, but it is a decent song.
Lionel Richie - Dancing on the Ceiling. Oh what a feeling! It was a fun fun song.
Heart of Rock and Roll - Huey Lewis and the news. It's still beatin..
We Built this city - Starship. I listen to this soooo many time.

Elvin and Jollyjoker had a converstation recently that got me to thinking. There is music that moves and inspires people. Different songs of course for different people. I myself am easily moved by music.
For instance :
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and turn and dream
of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder end rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
(Chorus)
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind end the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood
I need a Hero - Bonnie Tylor
This song can get me pumped to take on the world if I am feeling down. There are many more, hoping the rest of HC will share the songs that inspire them. Can be just the name of the song, or the song name and who sung it, or the lyrics as well!

While looks and personal life don't make a difference to me when considering what songs I like, it of course helps if the person is pleasing to look at (to me). Recently some of my favorites have really been on a 'bad' streak when it comes to good songs, however.
Shakira - Very nice to look at, good moves, very nice voice. Even when I can't understand her I can still feel the emotion, which is nice. Lately nothing she has put out has really been that interesting to me. Of course her songs are really hit or miss, so maybe next time.
Pink - All about the girl power. She is tough looking, and tends to avoid the gratuitious semi-nudity that seems prelivant in music today. I've always respected her talent and attitude, but nothing she's put out lately has caught my interest.
Mariah - Hasn't turned out anything decent, to me, since Honey. No clue where she is getting her songs .. but she needs to change where she gets them.
Beyonce - Though her most recent songs have been a 'little' better then the others, still currently not doing much of anything that is decent.
Of course currently much of the music put out now is not to my taste, and they have to make what sells, I understand that. Girl's gotta get paid.
So I went back in time to some of the songs I liked from women (either singers or groups). Here is a taste of some of the songs I found.
What I am - Edie Brickell
Two of Hearts - Stacy Q.
Baby Love - Regina
What's Up - 4 non Blonds.
Now there are a LOT more good songs by females out there, don't get me wrong. Some .... like "It's raining men." may not be for me, but I am sure somebody out there has some good songs to share.

I've only taken a quick scan through this, and I've never even heard of most of these songs. (like less than 1/5) But I'd probably recognise a lot more if I heard them.

OK, since there was a link I started with this oneQuote: Lovefool by the Cardigans.
not manly music at all, nono
Now I don't "like" it, but it's kind of catchy in a barf me out the door kind of way.
I have a Cardigans CD somewhere. A friend got it free and thought it sucked so he gave it to me. I thought it sucked too.....don't think I made it past the 3rd or 4th song and have never gone back.

I'll list a few songs that come to my mind right now.
Poison-Alice cooper, The best song by alice cooper, one of the best songs I've ever heard.
I love playing with fire-The runaways, a really good song by a good band.
I love rock'n'roll-Joan Jett, the song is good and she had done a few good songs, she's done a few covers and I think this is a cover too.
Breaking the habit-Linkin park, a great song and a good band.
to say the least, I love rock'n'roll.
the only song that I've really disliked is the song You're beautiful by James blunt, a year ago it was played ALL THE TIME on the radio, and everyone says it's a good song but I've never liked it, for some reason I can't stand listening to this song.
