Asia Has No Mouth
For many years of playing Final Fantasy and other Japanese video games, I had always been annoyed at how unconvincing the facial expressions are - especially during cinematics. When Tidus cries, he looks a little angry, but not very sad. Rush, when reunited with his mother for the first time in years, doesn't seem to have any expression at all. My brother and I always joked to each other that the Japanese can't animate facial expressions, because they don't actually have any in real life. And we would LOL, but we never really took it seriously.
This week, I found an article on Science Daily:
Facial Expressions Show Language Barrier, Too.
OMG, SRSLY? NO WAI! ROFLMAO! Etc.

The article you posted is on the perception of emotions. I don't see how it should hinder asians in the expression of theirs?

OLD NEWS!
I thought everyone was aware of the fact that asians can't read emotions from faces very well because in their culture it is frowned upon to lose face so they are used to seeing the emotions from a persons eyes.
And yes, that's why they also suck at animating or drawing it. How many japanese cartoons or comics have you seen with a believable expression of anger for example?
