The Syron's Warship? Well, in comparison to size to dimension, the Lord is still bigger. The ship looks bigger because its elongated, while the Lord is upright.

I noticed that there's very little information in-game regarding the spells. It's overwhelming, considering how many there are.
I only tried the tutorial in the demo. I created an ice bridge to cross the river, and a firestorm melted it. I couldn't figure out why, I thought it was due to having a fire elemental in my party, so I disbanded him. I tried crossing the bridge again, and same thing happened, another firestorm.
I eventually figured out that if I crossed the bridge with my Wizard it would trigger this reaction. From then on I kept my wizard inside the town and let him expand his borders/influence, as well as researching various town structures and army.

Yes, I had a problem with that, and it drowned a level 11 hero in the process, so it made me say a few choice words. Yeah, your Wiz doesn't like leaving his tower. But its so nice and cozy in there

What five things should you research first?. Should you start by building housing, followed by town defenses like palisade walls, stone walls, then Swordsman and Longbowman?.

I remember I used to build few day structures till my town increased production level and the more expensive ones could be built in less days. But then it's been a while. Also I remember recruiting a number of units or at least summoned units for clearing the map/protecting my area. If you go for higher level units immediately you are likely to be caught unprepared.

Demo scenario name: 'Inioch's Legacy'.
Just so you know, in the demos scenario you start as the Elven race. You have three Gladerunners at your disposal which allows you to scout your surroundings quickly. You also have a few Swordsman, Longbowman and one Billista.

Yeah, AoW!
IMO this is the best non-RTS strategy ever. I used to play Shadow Magic few years ago. I usually played as Shadow Demons, they are my favourite race. Their Lords pwn!

I had a funny strategy, when defending the town, and attackers have no flying units, and you have magic tower:
Firstly, recruit a fast unit, one is enough.
Then, when battle occurs, go to the back gate and wait for front gate to be destroyed.
After that, go through back gate and close it, so you are outside of town. The enemies will go around the walls, receiving a damage from the magic tower.
Go back inside the walls, and close the doors.
The enemies will go to the front gate.
And do that again and again, untill the end
But, in Shadow Magic addon, the tower stops shooting after some turns, so in normal Aow 2 it works better.

@Trashid: lol.
I also had one imba-strategy in Wizard's Throne. When opponent doesn't have any flying or shooting units and I have only dragons, I just keep using their breath untill all enemies die. But it doesn't work in SM either. But still SM is cooler for me.

That was pretty fun
But i liked those battles most:
"The elf girl comes to the orc. Hearts appear, and the battle is over" I remember, when i had the elf girl squads, and i was going around the world to look for soldiers

Mm, harvesters...I like them, those pregnant little bugs.
Well, the main issues were imbalance, so they put limits on the Breaths and the Wizard's tower, becuase now you can just build a magic wand for your wizard to shoot magic bolts every turn. That's one thing I don't like, that your Wizard is just crap after your casting points are used up...
@ettercap - Yeah, until I got my hands on Shadow Magic, I played Inioch's Legacy close to about 300 times...Good thing Inioch is a playable wizard in SM, but he's not default in any scenario, it wouldn't make too much sense...
I found that building up Archers in the beginning was a strategic thing to do. I built the mana buildings first, researched the mid-level summons (Efreet level) to build a raiding party. Then I let my mana build up as I switched to Construction buildings, to get the Level 4 quickly...
The most valuable unit for the elves is a Gold Medal Longbowman.

Quote: The Shadow Lord is the largest unit in the game, standing well over five times as tall as any unit
AFAIK it's also a strongest creature in the game. Though Chaos Lord and Black Dragon can pretend on that status too, I didn't compare them. But hey, I don't think it's the largest creature, you know, sprites are only conditional. You know, you can load up to 7 Lords in one ship.
Another imba-tactic: how to deal with any creature using only two spiders/spider queens. Just web it and then keep webbing and gnawing it untill it die. You know you can web flying creatures as well. What's the worst in this tactic is that AI does use it. So never send only one powerful creature to deal with just two spiders.

Well, the ATK of Web is only about 9, so it'll miss adequately enough to not make it a sure-hard tactic. But yes, using Spider Queens and Blade Dancers are even deadlier, that way you poison and damage them, making it harder to miss Web, thus allowing you to attack more. Keep in mind that Freedom thwarts your plans.

When you web from a close position it usually works. So with three spiders this tactic will work for sure. And yeah, Blade Dancers rock!

Yeah, the glory of Age of Wonders is that it is fully moddable, and extendable. You can make completely new models, like the Cyclops and the Mushroom thing. Its such a good game for the community. I like the racial priests with 1.4 personally, I also like the custom heroes made of the Efreet and Spider Queen models, they're pretty good.
PS - Heaven Games is a great site, and you can find a lot of good stuff from the good people over there. This is my second ad, but they deserve a lot of credit!

I am making a H3-MM7 mod for SM.Currently there will be 3 new races(Demons/Replace S Demons;Tatalia/Replaces Draconians;Nighon/Completely new)
To play it you must have installed patch 1.4,Dwiggs 1.4 and Return of The Lizards.
I called the mod "Blood and Honor" and it will be ready in few weeks.I am registered at Heavengames as "Lord_Invincible".
