A true story
you know how you grow up thinking your dad's the best and everything?
a frinde of mine told me that hes early childhood untill 12 he thought so. he used to take pride in hes father, who was bullying everyone, everyware. but then the father started bullying hes family, mother, brother and that kid. eventually the kid grow and started to stand for himself. one thing let to another and there ware violance. and there ware broken noeses, untill that kid grew even more, and isent a kid anymore, just the other mounth, that kid broke a rib to hes father, and just the other day apperntly dammaged another oragen. the father is not young himself, mid 40'. and not very well. the kid is afride to do a permante dammage. and not once or twice left the house and spend the night sdomewerelese, only to have both perents begging to come home from differnt reasons. the mother out of love and care, and the father out of fear that the mother will kick him out unless the kid returns.
however the kid who is no longer a kid, knows that he must leave eventually, the army will force him to carry a weapon, which is dangeruse in such place. so he makes a designe. he has no money savings,or any job at the time, but he adrassed several frindes, and some phone calls, tomorow that kid is going to the healt care department, and gets a document in which the goverment will give him hes own place to stay and money untill he gets in the army.
Only that the kid is not a kid anymore, that kid is me.

So... a friend of yours, who is you, told you about what happened to himself (you) when he was a kid. Correct?

Guess it really sucks. I never had troubles with my father whatsoever, but had different problems, comparable to what you've been though. It really sucks.
Anyway, as long as you don't use the Army Rifle to assualt him (and find a place of your own after the conscription has ended), you'll be fine, I'm sure.
BTW: Spellchecker and Font really would help. (if that isn't too rude to point out)

Agreed, this resembles Xerox-bashing.
Well, I can try to compare although my father ceased using violence he never gave me any reason to be proud of him. Selfishness always was his 1st attribute with some worse to boot. I partly envy you that you can run away from him but on the other hand I know I wouldn't do it even if I could - I'm not about to sentence my mom for only his company. Then again if ignoring doesn't work and you can't live near him that's the best solution (however it's only provisory). Best of wishes and don't forget about pulling others away from him if the situation won't change. Leaving the entire mess to others isn't a very nice thing to do and I already witnessed a few cases like that.

I'm sorry if my comment offended you. There's no malice or cynicism to it (abnormally enough). It was just a bit of lightheartedness since I gather you need cheering up; didn't want to need to mention that I'm not in a dissimilar situation.

Well, as to the physical violence I can not relate. My father has never laid a hand on me. So I am really sorry to hear that, and hope things do get better for you.
There are different kinds of abuse. My father uses the mental kind. Telling me how worthless I am, calling me a 'n' word (he swears up and down I am not his, but the result of a black guy sleeping with my mom *shrugs*). Of course, he is always sorry later. The cycle of abuse. Personally if not for my mom I would have nothing to do with him. Anyhow, am here if you need somebody to listen.

It is good that you stood up against him. Someone had to do it. If not, there could been some worse consequences.

I think the expression is "That or something worse would have happen".
Well, I am the person to recklessly attack somebody once I get a good enough reason. I don't really got anything to say about it, my opinion on this is not really in good weight in these cases.

That is just rude to say.
Anti: good luck onwards, there are untold people everywhere who is writing down how cruel the world is beyond its face. What you can do is something, is it what you do. Well, the illusion is to be realised sooner or later ~

I think that u should plan every movement being very carefull, u dont want to look back one day and regret ur choices.
BTW, there is no evil that cant bring any good.
BTW2 i think this is no place to look for the kind of support u need. Yes, we all say funny snow and u can find lots of members with ur same interests but not one of these is going to be there for you when u need it. On HC as on any community, there is always a "catch" to be fully accepted,i.e. have lots of red stars, be member since 2002, etc. Once u reach that, perhaps u think that if u post ur heart out then u will be helped by an incredible amount of members...well u will not. The HC did not require members to be a good person or friend, just write their mails down. So, my advice is that u should seek help in non-virtual "friends".

Nothing wrong in writing out your problems and checking the responses imho... Just another point of view to take into consideration. Nothing to make you decide. I would never decide based on what friends tell me - they simply don't know the whole situation, how I feel even if I tell them. It's best to trust your own judgment and never rely on others, while listening to what they have to say at the same time. HC works great for that.
As for your problem: tough stuff. Best way would be to isolate from him while your feelings are still hot. If you can't really control your emotions and end up breaking his ribs unintentionally, there is no reason to live in one place with your father or even see him. Just ignore him entirely, find a place of your own and let time do the rest. Even if he's bullying people and you can't stand it, you won't heal him by beating him and even if you will, there is still statistically a few dozen millions of people around there, that act the same. In other words, with so much aggression and bullying in the world, focusing to teach ONE guy manners is just a complete waste of time. Even if you succeed, there is still, say, 99,999,999 people that should be taught a lesson - in other words, you can't help it. Best to ignore it.
