From what I've read so far most people believe this thing to be a drowned sloth which some kids found and made up a story about.

It was an inhabitant of the "inner earth" (the earh is hollow of course.) He was trying to say "Take me to your leader" when he was stoned to death. Now instead of the "inner earthers" sharing their superior technology with us they will take their revenge and destroy us. Enjoy the last few weeks of your life.

I find it extremely weird that whenever someone finds something revolutionary for biology and the human race as a whole, he first beats it to death with a stick and then returns later to take a photo and appear on the news.

I can't imagine feeling the need to beat it to death with a stick unless it ran up baring it's non-existent fangs and launched at me. That thing doesn't looked particularly intimidating. It's tongue resembles a cow tongue.
