I have to agree with Miru here.  Something is bonkers.  For my job I am required to take speed tests on a very regular basis.  Professional speed tests.  My average is 55-65 wpm (so pretty much 60) on every test without mistakes.  Yet this test has me at over 100 wpm.  Something is wonky somewhere.

Of course this test has a lot of words with four letters and the 'professional' tests count 5 characters (some count spaces some dont) as one word regardless of how many words there are (ie: Of an would be considered one word by the professional tests).

Something is definitely wrong with this website. I am the fastest typist I know,  (because numerous times I have signed up for advanced computer classes and been put into a typing class) at about 80 WPM. This web site gives me about 55 - and there is NO WAY I can imagine all these other people getting double that.

Lol, cry more. *hands you a tissue*

Two things worth to remark:

First of all, the length of words differ a lot between different languages, this was intended for english, as we'd then all have the same basis for comparision, and thereby it wouldn't matter much if we looked at words or anything else.

Secondly, this test depends a lot on your connection speed, if you try to use a regular stop watch (many cell phones have one) and compare it with the timer on the page, you can check if the timer either runs slow or fast.

An solution to this however is easy, assume that you write in a linear speed (you don't get tired or unconcentrated), and simply multiply with the factor of error in the tests timer (e.g. it goes 15% too fast, then you can multiply it up for a faster time, etc.).

Though that's a bit much work to do I guess for something that's meant to be fun, btw. I'm still no#1 I see.
