Most memorable replays from Duel Map 1st season
With the 2nd season under way, I thought I might just post what I consider are the most memorable replays from Elvin's Duel Map 1st season. I have included links to HC pages below.
Edit: have uploaded replays which had expired links below...please note I do not want any credit for these replays
1. Firstblow perfection - Chaos tourny 1st round Azagal v sq79 game 3
The name of the replay describes it perfectly...think of the most damaging creature in H5 moving across the map to smite those perfectly placed units with luck!!! I doubt this will EVER be repeated, made even better by the fact that Azagal did it against sq79, the best of the best.

2. Firewalls are just eyecandies - 3rd tourny 1st round Dagoth Gares v Asheera game 2
"Outrageous", "unbelievable", "crazy" may be some of the comments after viewing this extremely funny replay where conventional thinking goes out the door.
It truly is luck of the barbiturate.

This was the very first game reported in the season...the name of the replay says it all, lol.
It's probably everyone's dream to have their own replay called "Crushed_Elvin"

4. Ehm...yeah...broken - Small finals 2nd round Azagal v Larry game 2
Quite a hard matchup, the description of the game given by Azagal even has a parabolic graph?!? which described what happened perfectly.

I have a bias here, atm I cannot see how haven without enlightenment can win necro. With a little help one can...Hope defeats despair!

As one can see, the most famous games are not necessarily the best - only thru mistakes/risks can these happen... nobody remembers perfectly played games

Great initiative primus I can feel it radiating with your usual positive vibes, hopefully one day we see something similar for the second season. Meanwhile you've proven exceptionally resilient by going through the whole thread and even making a list of your favourites! I remember them, good times.
Firstblow perfection has gotta be my favourite, you don't see those in every century Dagoth's games were also crazy fun, his victories over Asheera were epic! And yes we did have a crushing start! I remember the whole thing, I had a headache from studying and figured what the heck let's play since I'll get Lexxan anyway I had it coming but then I hadn't also tested the map well, those were sylvan's imbalance days. Academy was even worse. Azagal's broken necro was one of the latest and best replays, that guy has good insights to get him out of tough spots. And he's a good showman when it comes to presenting results. Sq's resilient undead coming out of their graves to terrorize us to no end.. *shudders* That lucky snow! Veco's game vs bliz was something else He even managed to make good use of vindicators vs necro. And how can we forget Eugen's lucky games, especially that game vs inferno was awesome. Asheera's armageddon game vs Larry, again an instant classic.
I'm sure I have a few extra good ones. If I find the time to look through them you may be in for a treat but you have probably seen them all by now Strange how you don't have any replays from pera.

That's a nice set, I'm sure there's plenty more when I look back into my memory.
Triple Implosion (Aca vs Orcs), insane resistance/lack of it, armageddon knights, knights out-mana-ing wizards, lucky prismatic breaths on 4 stacks that sqeeze tears from you (just like firstblow perfection).
We should post some replays with Azagal, there's usually some wicked stuff going on
Veco's game vs bliz was something else
Yup, it drove blizzard away from H5
anyway, good job, hope to see the list expand

It's great of you to do this. I've been promising Elvin I'd finish something similar for months but haven't followed through - when I get the money for a domain I'm going to host as many as can be handled. Alternatively I was thinking of putting together a .html page with all good replays and sending it to Val for AoH.

@Elvin: thanks for comments...would have been nice if the participant of each memorable game got an extra qp rather than me (they deserve it more!)...even better if more of last season's veterans participated again, it was a great thread
Eugen's lucky game v yourself game 3 in 2nd tourny 2nd round was last minute deletion
With ref to pera, I dunno...I don't have many of his replays & most of the download links have expired...[yes, Azagal being a "showman" describing matches with imagination helps add glamour too]
@veco: there was one that would have probably been included in the list: your knight out-mana wizard but I don't have that replay...unfortuately arma knight was unofficial game...I just realised #6 & #9 both had similar non-enlight haven with blizzard being on losing end of both (at least he is well represented with 2 other memorable wins)
Anyway, if others have other memorable replays or opinions from 1st season, please share & describe

People come and go but I'm positive we'll get a good batch after some gaming. And the regulars got their qps, you didn't think I'd leave them empty handed did you? And are you kidding me? I sent you around 100 replays, inactive links shouldn't hinder you.
Good to see ceph is still alive Hope to provide you with some cool ones this season.

Thanx for sharng, some interesting ones to watch here. This particular replay really made me upset ... I could feel the pain of the Haven player, when he had miss against those Ghosts for the gazilionth time. XD

Oof. Pain indeed. It's been almost a year and my skin still crawled from watching it I can't complain too much though because I had the Necklace of Conflux, which is a great artifact for Haven against hard to kill factions.

I have modified 1st post to include uploaded replays for those where the original link expired...
Will later also post most memorable replays for those non-tourny 1st season duels...eg. arma knight

Bumped for pei And here are the replays from last season that I promised.
I didn't think it was possible to do in so short a time but I gathered my top season 2 replays. There is a variety of games ranging from close, weird to simply funny - thanks for creating them guys
I bet Primus will want to narrow down the list to the top 20 or so according to his own criteria, not an easy task

Many thanks for those replays (if I haven't got them already)...I haven't forgotten & still to finish going thru the Random duel thread for 1st season stuff to complete
For 2nd season...wasn't sure if that was to be another thread yet.
Um, err...for the record: the replays had to have been posted & described, for example, in the temple tourny thread or temple random duels thread...I generally link to the relevant page & the descriptions/thinking given by the players & onlookers at the time are pretty damn important to provide background/laughs/gasps of awe...else there is no context to them & not enough info about artis/skills/problems/feelings & dunno which map or tourny it was played on etc
So if not already done, you (or others!) better start posting them & describing them in(duh)vidually in the random duels thread then

One counter argument - 102 replays
Besides.. You want to take away all the mystery, the intrigue of watching a brand new replay and not knowing what to expect Or watching a masterplan unfold step by step to only realize later the magnitude of what he just witnessed.
You want to take away the only thing left to the viewer, piece together the pieces of the puzzle! But more importantly I'm bored to do that myself.
So here are my faves in no particular order.
1) SGNecVsDun (Elvin vs Storm_Giant)
My first replay of the season and a smashing one. Back then max lvl was 18 so stats were a bit unusual but it was one of the most balanced games I've had. Close, I lacked defense but my battle frenzy, +1 luck and a summoning/dark combination saved my hide in the end. Ironically warlock's luck proved a doubled edged knife
2) lol wut (Elvin vs Vangelis)
The game that gave me the resurrection frenzy unlockable, seriously it is amazing how academy can cheat death. Made a mistake in first cast forgetting that the mark was on titans which caused my kshatras to fall faster than needed, then after a series of resurrections I placed my marked kshatras close enough to djinns to allow a meteor shower hitting both. Both should have lost me the game but the big surprise was that 10 master gremlins repaired the fallen golems giving me a chance to win.
3) havennecro (Bliz vs Attila)
A truly exciting game, it was impossible to tell who would get out of this alive. Bliz had pendant of conflux so as long as Attila used spells he could leech and with both having dark vampirism was countering frenzy/puppets one after another. Attila's phoenix was susceptible to puppet so it kept changing owners To his credit he realized the pendant was in play and stopped casting, many twists and tactical play.
4) ManiekAcaVsOrc (Elvin vs Maniek)
When chieftains kill 17 of your kshatras in the first charge you know it's going to be a tough game I avoided reducing their luck so I could puppet them, then tried to slow down the game with mass suffering, blind, a phoenix, trapped centaurs between blade barriers.. With my stupid mistake triggering a lucky taunt all my golems died, word of chief kept countering blind and paokai ate my key unit corpses so it was a close call.
5) Best game I ever had (Azagal vs Bliz)
A masterful replay, Azzie's resourcefulness shined and allowed him to win an impossible game. Another dark vs dark showdown, Blizzard's vampirism kept cleansing the puppets and his resistance had some pretty good saves. Eventually last stand, consume artifact, regeneration(no mastery) and Zehir's spawned elementals allowed him to weather the storm till Bliz was out of mana and he could freely use his dark.
6) KarimOrcVsNec (Elvin vs Karim)
Typically orcs are at disadvantage against necro. And with Karim's ranged forces well placed and impossible to reach, soon guarded by a phoenix and a landmine inbetween it was doubly hard. What he had not realized though was that Giovanni's ghost special kept boosting Garuna's attack. Highlight of the game when centaurs kill 125 ghosts with luck 
7) She IS scary (Albolabris vs Azagal)
The spectacle of vampire lords fleeing scared from Haggash's warcry is a memory I will treasure forever A brilliant inspiration from Azzie to use cloak of Sandro against undead.
8) Razzaks vrs. Yrwanna (Vangelis vs fiur)
A real pleasure to see a light/summoning dungeon take down academy. Fiur even teleported the frenzied reds so they could use dragon breath effectively
9) Galib vrs. Garuna (Mohikanin vs fiur)
A truly bad@ss display of academy, Mohikanin managed to turn around a game by having only golems, gremlins and gargoyles against an almost full orcish army. Mind you fiur skipped warmongers and trappers for 2 extra hasting daughters which added to the pressure. Result Mohi survives with 1 half dead titan!
10) OdiumMachineNecVsInf (Elvin vs Odium)
With split princes, no defense, flaming arrows and a destructive build for necro it could only be a memorable game ^^
11) OdiumMachineSylVsOrc (Elvin vs Odium)
A sight for sore eyes. Druids channel 28 spellpower, Anwen unleashes a triple rain of meteor and then a quadruple ballista rains down some more. That's seven 28 spellpower meteors in one turn
12) VanDunVsAcaStoopid (Elvin vs Vangelis)
A dark dungeon with aura of swiftness and luck against a defensive summoner, this was a very tight game. Although the dungeon forces were slaughtering academy at a fast rate a hasted phoenix and the spawned elementals started slowing me down halfway through the game until one wrong move cost me the game. Instead of using my puppeted gremlins to attack the phoenix and perish in the retaliation I attempted to control the phoenix. As a result Vangelis summoned another and all the remaining elementals turtled around his gremlins, I didn't even have the mana for a mass decay. Intense!
13) VanDarkAcaVsLightNec
A most unconventional game, this time my dark academy faced a light necro Besides haste I could not counter the rest of his buffs so I instead kept abusing mass vulnerability to a hilarious effect. The result was.. interesting.
14) valkyStronghold (Maniek vs valky)
Another narrow escape by academy through a means of dark, summoning and light. A must see.
15) BlizNecVsCounterInf (Bliz vs Elvin)
One of those games that belies Blizzard's inferno brilliance, this time he tried to take down my dark/destructive necro through counterspell. My only chance to win was to alternate castings with liches, use motn or the occasional mass spell. My destructive casting spree was severely slowed but in the end I managed to preserve my princes and a vampirism spell sealed the game.
16) bliz han Primus raz (Primus vs Bliz)
A summoning showdown between academy and dwarves that were also supported by a runic ballista
17) TowerAcaVsNec (Towerlord vs Elvin)
A close match between the mirror opposites, academy vs necro. Good spellcasting action, some twists but unfortunately open ending. Had he used arcane armour on the phoenix and afterwards vampirism he probably had me though he wasn't sure he'd think of it at the time. Either way it would be hell for me to take down those plague zombies and my mana reserves were getting shorter and shorter..
18) Primus vays Larry graw (Primus vs Larry)
An unbelievably close battle of inferno surviving an ignited fireball-fest with 50 grunts In the end in all fell into place like clockwork and mark of the damned proved invaluable in dungeon's demise. I felt that grunts in the front were a bad move but if they weren't who knows what might have happened
19) Invincibel Killer Machines you cant stop them ruuuuuun (Azagal vs Michi)
When I decided to post my top replays this was one of the first that sprung in my mind. Azagal's vindicators were like the terminator, they didn't tire, they didn't stop and killed everything within their reach And what is worse that a Laszlo lead well-buffed vindicator? A teleporting one, hack & slash baby!
20) Lol how did that happen (Rubycus vs veco)
Veco managed the unthinkable, this game has the hottest sky daughter action you will ever see in a game of heroes. And he did so against necro, coupled with flaming and horde's anger this is as close a barbarian can get to a warlock
21) MeavevsTeslek (Natalka vs Mohikanin)
Some of you already know of Natalka's skill and this pretty much confirms it - impeccable timing, a simply flawless battle for the orcs. Also shows that paokai aren't a necessity for orcs sometimes.
22) MIGHT makes RIGHT (Veco vs Azagal)
The game that caused a mentoring resurgence madness! Watch as a lvl 13 Maeve with academy and 24 knowledge minies takes down the forces of Urgash. Plus hot gargoyle action
23) VecoDesHavVsAca (Veco vs Elvin)
Having been seduced by veco's chaotic ways I faced his necro-lead academy with my destructive haven. Funny game ^^
24) 1 (Radar vs Primus)
An exhibition of how to take down enlightened barbarians with basic dark, warmachines, runes and low might stats. You can sense radar's wackiness.
25) Back from the Dead (Larry vs Primus)
Primus snatches victory from the jaws of defeat, crazy match to turn around. You must hate academy by now.

lol I dont even remember the #16 even tho I was one of the playas(prolly because I didn't know how to play academy much then) but I watvhed it again

Hi, Im new here, im new to homm too , i dont know how to view these replays, i have copied them to "..Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Profiles\player1\Saves" but i cant load it, i have TOE 3.1. Thanks for any help.
