Each template has some restrictions, like minimum or maximum size, or minimum or maximum human players, etc.. You probably have choose parameters which are not supported. Try again with different parameters.

Yes you are right! I tried 7 players max and changed some other stats and it generated fine. Thanks a lot Protos.
I look forward to trying this cool template by Angelito.

Yes I'd appreciate that too, it'll help expand my knowledge to create my perfect template.

My first post here, so it won't let me create an appropriately titled thread, and this is the closest I saw in the first dozen pages or so.
I downloaded Midnight's Mix and put it into my data folder. As I recall, that worked well. Inspired by several of the threads here, I created my own RMG, one for 2-5 players, the other for 4-8. (We play a lot of LAN, padding things out with AI.)
I took the Mix, deleted a few of the 1v1s we never use, then added mine to the bottom. When I generate a random map in the editor, it pulls from one of the templates. But when I try to generate one in the game, it pulls from L6TM10 or whatever. (I don't exactly remember which, but some of the original map templates. It varies, but never pulls from the RMG.) When it uses my templates, they appear fine, and play fine (all the connections working, etc.) I've tried adding those Midnight Mix back into the bottom of the file in case there's something wierd, but to no avail.
It's not that big a deal to pre-generate the map, but it is an extra step.
HOMM3 Complete, Windows 7, installed in root (because of the way 7 protects things in \Program Files\.)
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Maybe I should have waited another day. Or maybe it had something to do with asking the question. Whatever. I changed nothing at all and now H3C generates the maps just fine. Weird.
