New Commanders (my first Wog mod)
Hello all, I just completed my first project that I called "New Commanders", it features changed look of almost all of commanders (I left shaman normal, because I couldn't find anything that stack as new Fortress commanders, and because I though that it is quite good)and it completly changes two of commanders. This isn't full version yet, so some of the sounds and animations of new commanders could not be perfect, but I am still working on it. Btw. I have not made all of defs, i fact some of them are just found by me, so credits also goes to: Zbigniew, Dragonar (he helped me most), Arshtad and Darkloke.

They look very nice, and the inferno one (Darkloke) will rock them all.
I did not have the pirate with a gun, did you make it?
The only small problem would be that it is highly noticeable that the models are coming from various sources, so concept, colors, animations differ a lot. But well...this is too much asking, I know.
For having custom sounds it is difficult without a build in script, as they have same sounds as some regular creatures. I have such script done, so if you need...

I'd like to install some of them, but not all. The confluxx astral is very well made, and the inferno succubus too. But i definitely want to replace the necro and tower commanders. The rampart commander would not be neccessary to replace, but this new version looks indeed very good. So i consider that. Stronghold and fortress commanders are good enough as they are. The idea for the standard dungeon commander is o.k., but could be done better. So i'll take a look at this new one.
Isn't it possible to just put the files in the data folder without altering the lod files? If yes, which files are for what commander?

Siegfried, with your programming level it is a incredible you still don't know how to put defs in game. Tell me if need and I send you a short guide, it is very easy. Will not work from DATA.

Indeed i don't know that. I'm a programmer, but not for erm or h3, but for machines (embedded control). So this is different.

I don't get why people feel obliged to point endlessly that it is not HoMM style. This is WOG, and means HoMM3 modded. The original game is perfect and I can't see what it can be added in the same style. It has already everything it needs.
Today we have about 15 different styles creatures and of course they don't fit. But if everyone gives a few of his free time, tomorrow we will have 150 of them and be able to replace ALL, thus creating a new style.

Well, most of those defs are made of 3d models by NWC that were used in MM7 and 8, so if they don't fit to heroes then probably nothing does.

dude its about enjoying the game and so it has to feel like a whole. If suddenly peter griffin shows up in the game it would be funny, but it wouldnt feel like your playing a nice full game of HOMM and thats what its all about Just loving the game for 10 yrs now

Then play HoMM and don't bother with WoG.

WOG already had alot of HOMM style additions and im very happy with that, and many of the oldskool homm players would agree

Yes and No. My wish is that WoG says bye-bye to HoMM and become a real add on, and not only a recolored amateur extension. It has the potential for. I am old school too, and this does not prohibits me to work both ways, new and old.

Well, some things are indeed just recolored copies. But others are already quite good. In some cases it's acceptable to have just recolored old versions (lvl 8), in other cases i do not like it (messengers f.ex.).
The main prob with non-HoMM style tings is that it looks strange if used together with HoMM style things. So either all HoMM style or all different style. this is why i do not think the castle commander presented here is a very good idea. It is well made, but different style. The standard WoG castle commander fits better to standard WoG.
But it might indeed be a nice idea to rework just anything to present the whole game in a different style.
