Heroes of Newerth (The New DotA)

This is the other game I spend a lot of time playing.
Does anybody else ?

Here's what wiki says abt the game :

Heroes of Newerth is a game made by S2 games which is heavily based upon Defense of the Ancients (DotA).

Each game of Heroes of Newerth pits two teams of 1 to 5 players, called the Legion and Hellbourne, against each other. Each player selects a single hero to play from a pool of sixty, via one of several selection rotations. During the match, heroes will gain experience and gold by destroying enemy NPC units, players or structures, and customize their character with skills and items as the game progresses. Gameplay consists of heroes attacking/defending NPCs in a "lane" - a pre-defined pathway from one base to the other that the AI-controlled NPCs follow - to gain experience and gold advantage over the other team, while concurrently attempting to kill opposing heroes and avoid being killed themselves, to respawn a short time later in their own base. A game ends either when one of the teams' main structure is destroyed - either the World Tree for the Legion, or the Sacrifical Pit of the Hellbourne. A team may also concede at any point beyond fifteen minutes into the match.

Heroes of Newerth primarily differentiates itself from DotA through features, and not through content. However, a small percentage of HoN content is original.

Content
Heroes of Newerth is primarily a graphically re-skinned DotA with the vast majority of the content being re-skinned versions of a subset of DotA heroes and items. In several cases, copied heroes have had an ability swapped out with a new version. S2 has also added a small amount of additional content including maps, heroes and items.

Features
The major additions that differentiate Heroes of Newerth from DotA are 'around the game' features such as tracking of individual statistics, in-game VOIP, and GUI-streamlined hero selection (draft mode, etc). Post-game MVP awards and matchmaking are upcoming but not currently implemented in beta. The game also uses S2 Games' proprietary K2 Engine, and a ubiquitous client-server model similar to that used in many modern multiplayer games. This differs from the peer-to-peer networking model used for Warcraft 3 which can cause lag for all players when one player lags to any other player.

Heroes of Newerth is currently in Closed Beta with over 1,000,000 users registered. [7] On average, over 30,000 active users play the game at any given point in time. S2 Games used a Facebook group and word of mouth to attract players. Registered users can also send out invites to others, which allow for the creation of a beta account.

On August 22, 2009 the pre-sale of Heroes of Newerth began for members of the beta. Pre-sales of the game includes the benefits of name reservation, gold-colored nameplate, gold shield insignia (which both will remain once the game is released), in-game taunt ability, and well as additional beta invitations (3 for every pre-ordered account).

The game's Non-disclosure agreement for beta members was lifted on September 8, 2009.

I can provide whoever likes with acc to play. Just PM.

yea yea... all good... but..
League of legends is practicly the same, and i say i like it the better if we take a look on the graphics even. Some may say its too cartoonish but i like it AND its free, and its NOT gonna cost money, which HoN is. HoN is gonna be a pay to play game... LoL is not.

I feel I speak for a lot of us tired and bored gamers when I say that I have come to a point where money and graphics are not as much of a factor as balanced online play and decent performance and reliability.
What I care about is a challenging enviorment full of people who are way beter than you who will motivate you and make you play something for hours on end. Playing HoN was like the first time I saw Quake 3 Defrag. I was like "OMG these ppl must have been doing this for years".
The HoN community is not a forgiving one. Step even a toe out of line, and you will be heavily hated on. Where else can you get that ? I mean.. pricks are everywhere, but in HoN they take it to the next level.
If a succesfull game of this sort is easy to learn and difficult to master (like DotA was), then HoN is difficult to learn, and damn near impossible to master. That combined sense of challenge plus the nice look, the perfect servers, the constant minor tweaks of ballance to ensure the best experience and the WICKED announcer voice make up for one of the best team-based online games i have played in the last few years.
Lol on the other hand i tested for a whoile back in open beta days and I was shocked and apalled at how something as close to the HoN I had spent so much time playing feels so much like nothing in my hands. Dunno tho, it might be just my personal experience. I didnt even pass the half hour marker on that game.

I think I remember someone recently saying they were playing this.
Anyway are these videos depicting playing "real-time". Everything seems to be happening way too fast for me to even think I could play this game.

Gameplay

It's tagged Movie? Doesn't look like a Movie in a theatre.

Man, I've been playing it since the begining of beta and it is the best game out there. Dota was great but this is way better

It does look good but what about the Q? Does it play that fast...or intense, as the 1st video suggests?

It runs at about twice the speed of dota, so it is more intense.
