Heroes 1 File Formats
Hey all.
I know I'm new here and all, but I really love heroes and was hoping to become an active member around the place.
I was recently looking at heroes 1, and managed to extract everything from HEROES.AGG, however I was wondering if any1 knew the file formats for the extract files.
82M -> I know are raw audio files.
But I have no idea on the formats of the ICN / BMP / BIN / OBJ etc etc etc file formats.
Thanks for any help.

I am aware that this thread is old but is there any definitive source of information about Heroes I file formats? Searching gives me only info about AGG archives structure. I wonder if someone on this forum could provide information for types inside HEROES.AGG file like these mentioned above by @MasterRipper. Any help appreciated.

GrayFace's site has some cool tools I used to unpack Heroes 2 files, namely IcnPack and TilPack. There appears to be an "AggPack" as well to unpack the sound archives. Dunno anything about the contents of the files, though.

BMPs are files created by an image creating/editing software.
and i think OBJs would be objects, map objects i think, but keep in mind that this is a guess.
oh and ICN... maybe they are simply icons?

Unfortunately Herry you are wrong. BMP files aren't standard Windows Bitmaps, Heroes-flavoured BMP files are raw-indexed files, which make use of kb.pal or combat.pal (diff shows that these files are the same). ICN files are sprite archives.
gnollking, I am aware of these tools, they are even shipped with source code (written in Delphi), so I could decode few formats at the moment, but plain info about these formats would be huge time saver.

thanks for the correction, in my point of view let someone do it by himself, at least better than giving him false/wrong information.
