Well turn the firewall OF wen entering the zone, I can't play unless its turned of as well ( my wall that is )
Otherwise come to the lobby and see if we can fix it

I have problems with connection. Maybe it's that firewall...
Usually when surfing on the net no disconnections happens for few hours but while playing the game it happens quite often, every ten, fifteen or so minutes, sometimes even before. With this I was able to finish just two games so far. I felt frustated and can only imagine how my opponent feels...
So, can anyone help?
I'm not much into technical terms so don't know if I have firewall or not. If I have, where to turn it off?

If you are running 4.0, after playing a full game in the zone, some setting in the homm software may prevent you from playing the next person. This happened to me and I couldn't connect to anyone, or alternatively one person out of 7 or 8. Finally, I started playing the computer for a month on a single player random xl with 3 comp and me before signing on to the zone. Exit at the end of the game or sometime in the second month, then connect to the zone. When I do this, I have no problems playing anyone on the zone. When the problem comes back, I go and play the comp for a month, and the problem is fixed. This sounds weird; have no explanation, but works for me. BTW, I tried playing for just two days and sometimes that worked, sometimes not. Also tried playing for two weeks and that doesn't always work. For me it takes a month.

Month in month out
HeHe UT, actually hope no one would be confused that I meant a month of real time. Such a person should probably not be playing computer games v. people. Might strain their brain. Other things I have noticed that can help zone connections:
1) Things run smoother generally if you delete temporary internet files going to Tools then Internet Options in Internet Explorer and then clicking on delete files and clear history (especially if you are a rabid surfer).
2) If using a cable modem, and you leave it plugged in all the time, shut your computer down every once in awhile, unplug the cable modem, wait a couple of minutes, replug in modem, and then wait for all green lights on modem display to turn computer back on.
3) Checking your ip address is done from the windows desktop by clicking Start, then Run then typing in winipcfg. Sometimes I will reinitialize my address here when having problems.
This stuff has surely been infinitely posted, but when you are in dire straits, such info never seems posted in the right place. This seems like as good a place as any.

Chef's Problem
Hey Chef,
I used to have the same problem with you.
Your *.exe remains 1.0 even though you apply the 1.4 patch, becuz, (most prolly) you have the beta version of the game. It is IMPOSSIBLE to update the beta version, unless you find a crack to edit your "beta" *.exe into "original CD version".
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you where I found the crack becuz of 2 reasons 
1- It is forbidden on this msg board to advertise cracks/piracy
2- I lost the link where I got that.
