Problem with Heroes III
Hi everyone,
I've been playing the "Restoration of Erathia" campaign and I was having a hard time winning the "Greed" scenario. I decided to use a cheat code to move to the next scenario. Later, I gave it a second thought and tried to beat it without any cheats, but now that I finally made it there's still that annoying "Cheater" message in the scores, even though I won fairly. My question is, how do I totally disable cheating so that the message won't appear at the end?
Thanks in advance.

You can't "un-cheat." The solution is, don't cheat in the first place.
You know you did it fairly, though, so that should count for something. If the cheater label is bothering you, clear your high score table.

You have to start the whole campaign new, then you won't read the cheater message anymore.
And if you have problems with the campaigns on RoE, then you probably should some fixed maps first to get used to the gameplay, because the RoE campaigns are quite easy in comparison to later campaigns (AB and especially SoD).

KaiserYoshi - You're right, I never should have cheated in the first place.
angelito - I did start the whole campaign new; I realized it's easier to beat that final scenario if one chooses the Fortress instead of the Stronghold (because of most of the map being in swamp terrain) , but I hadn't Saved the game and had to restart from the first scenario; but the message still appears.

If the message still appears, you either
- did not start the campaign new by pressing NEW, CAMPAIGN, ....
- you already finished one of the campaigns and the campaign you are talking of was 2nd or 3rd one you started.
So you either start completely new, or load the last scenario of the last campaign you played before you have used a hceat.
And about the problem refering fortress or stronghold: Just chose "pathfinding" for your hero(es), and stronghold will be a good town aswell.

I remember that campaign, it took over 4hours when i finished it. first i took stronghold but when i realized that the whole map is swampland, then i restart and took fortress. only because of speed of heroes and speed of units

Thanks angelito.
Donald - Choosing the Fortress really does the trick, since you can't get all your Heroes to learn Advanced Pathfinding.

sorry for stealing but ?
Hey guys im new here.
I am sorry for kinda stealing this thread but it wont let me create my own as my post count is too low. If a mod can move this to a thread of its own that could be better ?
anway I have a problem with homm3 complete.
Me and my gf have played the game for years with no issues.
Anywho the other day I noticed I had it installed on a partition and we decided to play again. We always play random and have never had an issue until yesterday.
We had several strange things happen with the same settings:
1st try we found no creatures spawned at all to guard anything, resulting in a rather empty and easy map ....
2nd we had creatures but we both started with 2 towns, 1 above and 1 below, never ever happened to me before.
3rd we had plenty of creatures but all of our faction surrounding us (not an issue when using diplomacy) but the rest of the map was pretty barren.
4th again pretty much no creatures, and those that were on the map guarded nothing.
Now we usually play with the following:
L/XL map no underground unless L.
2 human players on one team
3-4 cpus on 1-2 teams
no water
normal or strong creatures
100%/120% diff
Dont think it matters what towns we are etc.
Anyway I decided to try a fresh install but couldnt find my disk so figured its only small and torrented it. makes no difference which copy I run (mines on my usb drive now, just to make sure there was no mistakes )
Only changes that have come about since we last played is me changing to windows7 64bit, but surely this would have little to no impact ? has anyone heard of this before ? also sorry for the massively long post im rubbish at keeping things short.
thanks for your time.
Sigh
edit: I have tried looking for a simular problem but im getting overwhelmed by the number of posts that come up and seem unable to refine my search

hello. perhaps u have some bad random map template. u can check current template name by pressing "i" button in game.
read about templates in LIBRARY
download templates from WCL (Donloads -> Maps -> Random.
try to make map settings and use game rules like at WCL Rules page.

Just set the monsters on "strong", and cpu won't create a map from an easy template (like "newcomers" for example).

thanks for the speedy responses, I have read that article now and was completely unaware of how the random maps worked before. Thanks again.
