ICTC 2010
The Sanctum
Facts and Traits
Aka: The Abhorred, The ???
Associated colors: White, gold and black
Worship: The ??? worship Elrath
Core philosophy: "The time of judgment is now."
Country / kingdom: They exist as a separate entity fringing the borders of the Haven empire
Capital city: Caliga
Key symbols: A Sun, A White chain, Black robes
Description: The ??? are a race of ??? They have come to Ashan in the night. Sometime during the year 1080 ??? cities just had appeared. many suspect their appearance to demon plots.
especially given the fact that during battles experienced commanders appeared to have the holy fighting with the unholy by their side...
Yet noting about their cities suggest anything of the sort...
History -
The Sanctum is a group of humans who had found their own sense of justice in this world. they still worshiped Elrath but became more obsessed with making sure their world was just. This is one of the reasons they are at odds with haven. They are not regarded by the haven factions as true worshipers of Elrath. The two groups fought in the war of Elkross. Named after the aftermath which had led the sanctum's people to develop a school of law named after the famous war hero which the war is also named after.
Unfinished
lineup -
Tier 1 - Mugger
A lowlife criminal who has chosen to serve in the military rather than be forced to stand trial. They are eager to serve being only spurred on by the presence of those who chose not to serve. They use their skills to pilfer funds for their leaders.
Abilities -
Mug - 5% of the damage dealt with this unit is stolen from the enemy and given to the hero.
Upgrade1 - Ruffian
A criminal with slightly more combat experience. They have mastered more of the art of coercion and are simply more capable than a mugger.
Abilities -
Mug - 5% of the damage dealt with this unit is stolen from the enemy and given to the hero.
Threaten - Units with a combined power level less than this stack's combined (power level * stack size), cannot attack this stack. They can retaliate though.
Upgrade2 - Thug
A brainless criminal whose taste for combat has led him to choose the army over standing trial. They only live for combat and thus are often restrained from attacking the others.
Abilities -
Bloodthirsty - This stack's attack doubles every time it attacks.

Tier 2 - Heretic
The criminals who have not yet been punished exist in this state. They stay with the army because ??? cities house no jails nor courthouses.

Upgrade1 - Condemned
The criminals who have been punished but only are starting to feel the effects of the virtuous magic. Their magical abilities have been amplified and their flesh regenerates.

Upgrade2 - Corrupted
The innocent at heart who have been condemned enter this state. the virtuous magic reacts strangely to their soul and thus a strange creature is born. Their bodies are pure white, but it is too late now. no amount of magic can ever reverse the process. The fact that they are innocent is one of the most closely guarded secrets of the ???. The massive number of pure white beings is astounding.

Tier 3 - Acolyte
There exists an academy of law in the land. It is here that the pupils are instructed in the ways of law. They are taught magical abilities to supplement their decision making, So that their verdicts are not empty threats.

Upgrade1 - Rhox Lifemage
Some who failed the tests that all acolytes must pass before becoming more dutiful judges simply become Lifemages. They concoct powerful healing spells to aid their comrades and occassionally to make sure a convict or prisoner is in good health. otherwise they are sent to assist the armies.

Upgrade2 - Rhox Lightmage
Those that pass the tests are given the rank of Lightmage. bearing the light's laws and power they have no official duties yet. they simply accompany older or more venerable judges and assist them. whether it be counseling with them or helping cast a spell. if they are lucky they will replace their aging mentors.

Tier 4 - Ur-shade
As the magic works its way on the soul the body is twisted to represent its true nature. They become shadows of who they once were. figures known only for the crime they committed. lacking even names. Their souls become their bodies and the living tremble seeing the dead reflection of a former ???.

Upgrade1 - Stony Ur-shade
Those who had shown no remorse at all become this. Their cold and unforgiving hearts become their bodies. Their stony cold souls give them an increased resilience to physical damage. and their overwhelming apathy drowns foes in feelings of hopelessness.

Upgrade2 - Warped Ur-shade
The innocent's souls are primarily pure and as such their forms are more pure. Their blank expressionless bodies convey however only one emotion. The pure terror of losing their life of good deeds. All warped shades have inscribed their life story into their blades. they'd rather die and burn for eternity than lose their life stories.

Tier 5 - Slinger
Rhox slingers sling small stones at foes. Small is relative though, a Rhox may consider a man's head to be small. and another Rhox may consider a Rhox's head to be small.

Upgrade1 - Ballista Rhox
Some Rhox get tired of the philosophical debate on the subject of a 'small' stone and simply pick up a crossbow. They do not know it but their 'crossbows' are what normal beings call ballistae

Upgrade2 - Seige Sling
Some Rhox slingers have a very different perception of small. To this elite group small may mean the size of a man's body or the size of a horse's body... No Rhox has yet succeeded to define small as the size of a dragon's body... Yet...

Tier 6 - Archon
The official name given to those who have waited patiently enough for their former mentors to die and have succeeded them. They make the calls now... But in times of war their immense powers are needed elsewhere. such as on the battlefield, where they are free to fully exercise their powers without any of the drab and dull court proceedings.

Upgrade1 - Judicator
A position of seniority amongst the society. Judicators sit atop their great thrones. Judging and exercising their magic in restraint, they have practiced their beliefs so much that their word has nearly become literal law. Their barking commands have the unusual ability to coerce others into doing what they want. In times of war this ability is very useful...

Upgrade2 - Scion
Some judges have inflated egos. Their years of sitting as godlike figures have led many to claim to be the avatar of Elrath on this world. Their piety is so well known that even though they all claim to be the same figure they don't kill over the role. It is these Archons who deliver the most severe punishments.

Tier 7 - Argonized Demon
The most depraved of criminals become this. As the light magic is working their dark hearts overpower it and they are transformed into demonic figures, Great mighty towering demons, but this form is not punishment enough. Those unlucky enough to become these demons are blessed with holy fire. Their bodies burn as the holy fire consumes their flesh but the corrupt light magic within them heals them. They spend the rest of their days burning. they fight... unwillingly.
Abilities -
Upgrade1 - Painbringer Demon
Some accept their punishment and wield it to inflict further malice upon the world. Their actions are approved but channeled to the right bystanders. The holy need not be harmed by their unholy compatriots.

Upgrade2 - Warped Demon
Some have two hearts as some have two minds and some have two professions. these peoples react strangely to the holy fire. One side of them embraces it while the other fights it. because of this their bodies are twisted halves of light and dark. one side shines with the light while the other side burns with the passion of Urgash. both appreciate their new form. one uses it to heal and the other uses it to kill.

I hope that by posting my unfinished faction it encourages me to finish it.

0.0 fixed some typo's and added further detail to lineup, lineup to be finished next. (remember to use stealth edit)(Finding a picture of an undead rhinoceros is going to be hard... probably going to change race to humans(But the Rhox slingers are staying))
0.1 For sake of simplicity (exactly how stealthy can a lumber rhino be?) the race is changing to humans... The lineup descriptions are finished.
0.2 Added a brief history and hero name. racial description to follow the lineup further.
(penalize me if i keep forgetting stealth edit. That'll fix me up)

Get a nice picture of a rhinoceros, then get a nice picture of a rider and label one as "Rider" and one as "Mount". That's what I've done in the past for wacky rider/mount combos that you'd never find a suitable complimentary picture for.

Here Mamga I hope one of these two do the trick. The first one may not be as pseudo civilised as you would like it and the second is without rider. I also found this one but it may not be as undead as you want it to be. Hard to find the perfect fit .
You guys should use deviant art more, there is some breathtaking work out there and there practically isn't anything that these people haven't done. But remember to give credit to the artist if you use their picture! It's not much work to add their name (or link them if you feel like working really hard ) and it's the only nice thing to do.

You know... with those pictures i could really make a rhox faction.
those undead rhinoceri azzie posted could serve as demons.
there are no actual rhino riders though incidentally...
thank you all for wanting a rhino faction enough that you found pictures even though i said i was changing the race.

Oooops sorry xD. To be quite honest I didn't read it all yet so I must have missed that you didn't need them anymore? I just remembered you looking for a undead rhino . And it's no work really open favourites, go to Deviant Art, type in "undead rhino" and BOOM there you have it.
