President of Poland and 132 people have died in air accident
Today about 9 am CET the President , Her wife and other 130 important people flew to Katyn to celebrate the memory of killed Polish officers and people in 1940.....
they didn't make it....

Always tragic when someone doesn't make it, no matter the cause, in my opinion.

We don't have one. However, there were already preparation to election at the beginning of Autumn. From now on things will speed up.
But apart from president, many other important personas were on the board, such as Polish National Bank chairman. For next few weeks there will be terrbile chaos.
This is a tragedy of unseen scale.

there is in Polish constitution that the Marshal/chairman of the parliament is taking the duties of the president until the new one is elected. He has 14 days to propose a date of elections and election has to be on Sunday about 60 days after its announcement....

I read a bit more about it. According to my news media (I don't find them very credible though) the airplane tried to land in a thick fog.
I'm surprised, would it not be the general idea if the conditions of landing is unacceptable to turn to another area to land and then continue to the destination when the conditions provided by environment improves?
Maybe it wasn't so bad they thought, then they were misinformed by the airplane? Or just plain bad luck in a normal safe condition?

We will know after all investigations will be finished..... from what it seems the pilot wanted to land in Smolensk despite bad weather, and denial from airport flight control...
there where 87 passangers on board....

I reckon the Veep will probably take over, because tragic accidents such as this will bring more sadness to a country that had already lost so much during the second world war.
My sincere condolences to the friends and families of those on board.

Ummm, holy ****, this is a big deal. A huge chunk of their executives just simultaneously got wiped out. I'd think a plane like that would be redundantly safe. Smashed into some trees in a fog? Wtf.

When I have seen the reporting on the TV, I have been rather shocked. It is very big tragedy.
