Assassin's Creed 2
Beside all the hard talk about its protection, has anyone played it?
Well I recon a spoiler warning's in order, in case you guys don't want me to ruin your fury when you find out that it's actually probably all about aliens brainwashing people.
I don't dig all the high tech elements ("*radio crackers* Hey Desmond. Fascinatingly annoying British guy here. Climb that cathedral and see what that strange glyph is. ... Oh my God it's a computer code! What's it doing in the 15th century?" I'm wondering the same too, old chap - in fact, I'm not, I'll just pretend it's not there and try to get back to trying to blend in the renaissance environment which you've just ruined with glowing computer geek graffiti) and the metaplot could've been implemented better (omg aliens) but I like it. It has a great atmosphere, lots of action, less repetition, new weapons, beautifully designed renaissance Italian cities, less repetition, an interesting storyline relying on real historical events, less repetition and new elements such as city renovation management and character customization which I sort of like.
Someone else's opinion?

Did it fix the most gaping problems of nr 1?
I mean:
*Is assassinations just an excuse to slaughter your way trough hordes of soliders before getting alone with the target?
*Does there exists places where you actually can sneak onto the targets?
*Will the rooftops be filled with guards every 3rd meter?
*Is the plot strong and interesting?
*Is there many critical plot holes?
*And does scouting out actually do anything for the missions?

Note: Played it on X360
Note 2: Didn't play the first game either.
The boss battle was one hell of an anti-climax...
EAT THROWING KNIVES NOOB! *boss dies*
*Is assassinations just an excuse to slaughter your way trough hordes of soliders before getting alone with the target?
Depends on the mission. Some missions require you to slaughter a few soldiers on your way, but most of them present you with at least some degree of choice. I remember quite a few times that I've killed only the main target instead of slaughtering everyone, personally I find that much more "assassinatry" (uh yeah, that's a word).
*Does there exists places where you actually can sneak onto the targets?
Yes, quite a few.
*Will the rooftops be filled with guards every 3rd meter?
Sadly yes. Annoying as hell.
*Is the plot strong and interesting?
Yeah quite, though as Bak said, the techbabble can really ruins the atmosphere.
*Is there many critical plot holes?
Not that I know of.
*And does scouting out actually do anything for the missions?
Hmm... yeah sometimes. It's up to the player though, the game is really easy and you'll probably succeed with killing the target regardless of planning.
Scouting and planning allows you to make stylish kills, and since the game isn't hard at all, you might as well create some challenges yourself.
I really enjoyed the game btw. Way too easy though.
