OSM 1st Annual Awards Show
The following forums will all have their own award show : The Tavern, Volcanic Wasteland, Bards Glade, and the OSM. You, the community gets to decide who is nominated for the below list. However, there are some rules.
1st, no Moderators or Admins can be nominated.
2nd no person can win two categories in the same forum. Each of the categories will be decided by vote, and the winners announced in the order given. If somebody has already won once, the person with the second most votes will be announced, and so on.
3rd You can nominate whoever you like by posting them in this thread, but all voting will be done VIA HCM to me.
4th there is no limit on how many nominees can be named, but you can only nominate one person per Award, per forum (ie if there are similar awards in VW and OSM you can nominate two seperate people or the same person.
5th Absolutely, positively NO bashing of nominees. If you don't like a nominee just do not vote for them, nothing more.
6th Moderators besides myself (since I am the Host I don't get a vote  ) may nominate also.
7th All nominees must have posted within the last year.

Best Overall Poster
Most Convincing Poster
Most Logical Poster
Best New Poster (New is defined as somebody who has joined HC within the last 12 months)
Life Time Poster Award (This one is immune to rule seven, but the nominee MUST have over 4 red stars AND be somebody who does not post regularly on the forum)
Let the nominating begin. Deadline for Nominees is 7 days from today (today sunday 5/9/2010 here)

Weird that people list TheDeath as convincing. If he was so convincing, why do so many of you argue with him and disagree with him on a lot of points? lol? If I'm not mistaken, if you convince someone of something then you don't go arguing or debating further with them (with the disagreements).

William has a strong point here...and I tend to agree..but to each his own 
Best overall poster: Corribus (by far)
Most convincing poster: hard to judge, because it is very hard to convince me 
Most logical poster: dimis (Ecoris not too far behind...)
Best new poster: --- (too lazy to look up who registered inbetween the last 12 months...)
Life time post award: bort (by far)

Alright, I guess it does help if I actually read the rules. 
Now then, as much as I hate to provide support to the competition, I think Binabik is one of the highest quality posters around town right now. I guess I would put him in all three categories (Overall, Most Logical and Most Convincing) since they're really all equivalent anyway in my book. How can you be the most logical but not the most convincing? dimis, ecoris and maybe minion are worth a mention as well, but they don't really post enough.
As for the lifetime achievement award - well, if you go back and read a lot of the old OSM posts, you'll find a lot of worthy candidates. Bort, Svarog, Gootch, PH, Peacemaker, etc. I think it'd be too damn hard to just pick one.

Well actually... I think it's only one nomininee, pr. award title, pr. person.
About most convincing vs. most logical, I completely agree with your point. Though I think many people maybe get convinced if not only through logic, then also through emotions [by which I mean what they're conditioned to by their environment]. Though I suppose it depends a lot on how one decides to define the term 'logic'.

I'm going to post my nominations here basically the way I listed them to Mytical as my actual votes...
First two categories: Nobody. I just can't honestly think of anyone that deserves to truly have either one of these categories over EVERYbody else.
Logical: JollyJoker (when he is on his "A" game and not frustrated or something, you should be able to admit that JJ is exceptional capable of delivering well-thought-out and decisive arguments, he has made me think more than once)
New: Ohforsake. I haven't been back for very long. But if anyone remembers anything positive about me, then it would be that I am very good about reading up on threads before I post in them. This guy can be long winded and carry a subject too far, but wow, still a good new poster (at least I think so).
Lifetime: Corribus. If this goes to anyone else, it would only be because he won this in another area. Corribus and I often do not see eye to eye (pun intended, tehehe) but he is still known for well thought out and quality posts, that standard has happend over many threads and over a long time.
And that's all I have to say about that 
EDIT: Mytical has informed me that the lifetime one has to be someone that has not been posting as of late. --scratches head-- and so on that note, I also have nobody to vote for for that category, as it seems too silly to me to reward someone for not posting recently. That would be like giving me the reward. Follow me? I have not been around, so why? Well that and the fact that I have this evil black cloud of self creation following me. But yeah, that's my 2 cents.

Voting RULES
If you do not send your Vote Via HCM..IT DOES NOT COUNT.
If you nominated somebody, and do not send a Vote Via HCM .. YOUR NOMINATION DOES NOT COUNT AS A VOTE.
You may want to have a backup, and maybe even a backup backup vote for each category..in case the person you vote for wins another category.
Please do so something like this.
