I think that people choose to play with rules because they want to have fun and it has nothing to do with the skills of the players....i mean we all know that if you play with no rules you have to take some precaution to avoid the first day rush for example , picking a castle or a hero that you don`t like only because the other picked Solmyr or Necropolis...and in the end all can degenerate in something like "you m.f. @#$$$^%&* , you win because %$#@%, you can be sure i`m not submitting, never ask me to play again & stuff". I think many of you experienced something like that..
If you play with rules and lose , then you know that you lost with rules that you accepted, because you did some mistakes or because the opponent had more luck than you..

I never play with any rules. And to be honest, every one I play who says no rules, then pulls a rule on me, as it isnt a rule, but an understood thing.

I think playing w/o rules is much more fun. The rules limit many parts of the game so i always prefer playing with none. However for heroes to be played on such a high level so the best one always wins then rules are nescisary. However the better player will still win most of the time without them. Rules are for players that think they need to win all the time.

if u suck in homm - u suck in homm : changing the rules wont change that.
if u are a skilled player - u are a skilled player : changing rules wont change that.
only a player who can handle every rules-situation is a good player.

Man, you have a serious case of paranoia.
You're way off base with that statement.
I only play random maps and unfortunately lots of randomly generated maps aren't balanced like a JB ToH map would be,,
ie:,,sometimes only one player has carto, or I get dd scroll and opp gets summon boat, or our starting castles are next to each other.
This is why I always play meet wk 1 restart rule, I don't know bout you but a game that ends on wk 1 day 4 just doesn't do it for me!
And other rules like no carto which i also insist upon are to ensure a more balanced map, cause if I get carto and opp doesn't,,good luck beating me(geez i sound like Mocara))
There are tons of other examples,,but my point is,,
Most make rules to help ensure a more balanced playing field, therefore a more enjoyable game by letting opps use their skill to win and not win by having an overwhelming advantage beyond either players' control.
Of course there will always be some who go overboard,,lol
I played a game recently where opps rulez where:
NO cart, grail, dd, fly, 4ht lvl scrolls, 4th lvl heroes, day 1 rush, necro, flux, diplo at all, 5th lvl spells, logistics,,,and meet wk 1 restart..phew!!

Well in self made maps I use no rules at all because like I said months ago I think people who use rules lack thy skill or cant handle thy skill.
Then again I like two rules on randoms & ewill say why I dont think they are real rules.
1:No Cartography because I think it ruins thy fun I like to explore & find out new thangs & knowing where my opponent is & watching every move I can make my plan & win easily & so can thy opponent.
Even a newbie can win.
2:No Grail, who ever finds thy grail pretty much won like example with my game with Everliving which was a fun game.
like early week 2 I think we had a hugh main battle with our main & then 2 days later he came with another hugh army & I could not do anythang & to find he had grail early lol.
Well thats about it LOL

hmmm i know a lot players that prefer rules - but they would kick ur butt anytime . no matter which rules or no rules. lol
man u got no clue at all
rules don't affect the outcome of a game at all - becasue they count for both player ( well at least they should )- if u face a better player - he will kill ya which way u ever choose.....

I was not saying that at all & I know alot of great players have skills regardless.
I am just saying that thy whole game is based off skill 7 if you take it off as a rule then that is one minus skill.
Mayhaps I said it in a wrong way.
I will try again.
If a player takes out a skill for no use then mayhaps they have a hard time playing with thy skill.
Motor you gotta quit putting people down because of a misunderstanding that was twice i tried to tell you 7 you still do that?

You dont know me & never played me so it seems you like judging people you dont know.
I know both you are not stupid & I know you saw me change my perspective in many thangs.
Morgan on thy zone pointed out a good example with Hit & run.
I mean if you disagree on somethang then tell me I listen to everyone & I changed knowing facts.
Both of you had no reason to say those thangs I really didnt do anythang to both of you.
Sure I may say somethang & really meant somethang else but at least I was a bigger person to apologise to both you.
Motor says I have to be careful how I say thangs 7 he is right I am trying to work on it.
You Andi is just a 100%snow who no dought is one of thy greatest players I heard of just like to put people down.
I dont care if you do in thy zone anymore because some of them do deserve it I changed on that.
Cant you cut me some slack I am trying to get along with everyone Andi you just keep acting big headed.

what do you mean alculias, i just answered to him saying rules are for peeps that need to win always.
nah rules are for experienced players that have no fun anymore in diploing around on rdms, or taking free stuff without defeating the guards, or dd all over the map...

Who plays with rules can`t handle the skills rofl....
I bet those that play with rules knows better than most of those that plays with no rules which are the tricks and strategies to kick their @$$e$ , starting with the old Hit and run and ending with first day rush...
correct me if I`m wrong...

Did you mean that Rulez as in rocks or did you mean rules?
Immortal people are good with or without rules I talked to some people about this yesterday Especially Hit & Run which is a sucky rule buty I dont care all I was saying is all thy rules you put down is also a skill or most of them.

Well , Wanderer told me how he lost in Might and Magic last season . He played on hourglass , don`t remember against who , but it was an emperor i think , had better troups , but the opponent had the book of earth and an archangel bought from a refugee.Then when wanderer was closer than a day from his main castle, all was simple.Few scouts that could cast implosion were enough to kill what was important.
Would you be happy if you lose like this?I guess no....or yes?
