DRM/DDRM in HOMM 6
Is there any information yet on what DRM will be used on Heroes of Might and Magic 6? I have bought and enjoyed HOMM 5 and TotE a lot, but I outright refuse to purchase games that use online-based DRM systems, due to the artificial obsolescence they have built-in (once the company retires the servers, goes bankrupt, etc. the game artificially and automatically becomes obsolescent). Ubisoft has become well-known for imposing a particularly draconian online DRM system and I essentially stopped following its games once it became clear they didn't plan to remove it in the near future.
I have only now heard of the announcement of HOMM 6 (since I wasn't paying attention to the company's games anymore) and am wondering if Ubisoft has changed policy on this matter or announced what DRM will be on HOMM 6. If it has changed, I will take more time to learn about the game to see if it seems like an improvement on HOMM 5, but if online DRM remains, there is no point to me trying to learn about and follow the game, since I won't be buying it anyway. So does anybody have any information on this matter? Thanks!

OK, I have been informed on another forum that the game will not use the draconian DRM (DDRM) system that Ubisoft imposed on Assassin's Creed II, though it is not yet decided what DRM will be used (and apparently it is possible that there might not be any). This gives me hope for the game, so I will take the time to find out about it and keep on hoping that they won't use an online-requirement (and thus automatic obsolescence) as DRM.

Making Heroes VI require you to be online is like making eating at a fast food restaurant require you to cook a meal first I'd say.
What do I do when my internet is down? or if I took my laptop with me someplace?
I play Heroes, cus that I can fully enjoy, even multiplayer, offline.
That is one of Heroes' greatest strengths, it's offline appeal.
You can play it any time you like, for as long as you like and with whoever you like with little issue.
You don't need internet, you don't need a LAN cable, you don't need a 2nd computer, all you need is the friend in question to go and play Heroes Multiplayer.
Have a good disc check and let that be the end of it.
Maybe a 1 time online activation but even those I detest.
If you like me, don't always have internet, even that can be a royal pain in the bum.

I pretty much agree. I would not even buy it with online activation, because I expect to occassionally return to good games (e.g. HOMM III) even many years later, and the activation servers may no longer exist at the time. Disc check is fine by me. Luckily, it appears that Ubisoft is beginning to see the light on this, so I may yet be able to buy the game.
