Diplomacy would be a good option but rarely becomes effective!

I don't understand why I am the only one who loves Diplomacy. If used correctly it can win the game for for. If you have expert Diplo you can double, sometimes triple, you army in one week. It is extremely helpful on the damn plague weeks. Another plus is it helps to cut down the advantage of Necromancer skill. Just my opinion, respect to all that deserve it.
I need:
Diplomacy (explained above)
Air (better dim door, mass haste for mid game)
Earth (no explaining needed)
Water (mass prayer, mass bless)
Fire (got to love hitting four enemy troops with berserk)
Balistics (gets rid of those damn archery towers)
Artillery (for hero who guards castle, comp never shoots right stack)
I avoid:
Navigation (I hate the water in the first place)
Mysticism (worthless for me)
Eagle Eye (same as mysticism)
Live with or Live without:
Resistance (when that shield pops up, you can help but laugh at your opponent, you know he is pissed)
Intelligence (extra spell points a plus if you don't have Dungeon)
Scholar (sometimes helpful on large and XL maps)
Estates (gold is always good)
Logistics (more movement is nice)
Pathfinding (makes swamp and sand less annoying)
Scouting (no comment)

try playing with Ryland and get 300 GE, week 2 day 4... "BEG"
anyway, skills i hate... Myst, E.Eye, Scholar and Nav

I only need 80 to 100 elves to cut down those 300. Probably not even that many if I have good spells lol. Sorry, I just meant it would help cut down on the advantage, not even it up. That would be damn near impossible.

Since Stronghold's guild only goes to 3, you can't get Prayer or Clone, and I'm not going to play counting solely on finding one of those in another town (although you have a point w/ Cure).

Sometimes i want the Intelligence and Expert Earth Magic with for my neCrOs.
So i can Animate-Dead all my dead tRoops befoRe ending tHe baTtLe (by killing tHe lAsT enemy stack). You know what i mean.
I don't like Eagle Eye, Diplomacy and Scholar. Leadership and Luck rulez!. Dread-Knight's double damage plus luck thats 4X dAmAgE!! You know wHaT i mEaN =))

Why dont you like Diplomacy its great. Why have leadership with Necro necro people cant get moreal because there dead

I agree with Attila! If only Mysticism has been a bit better! Like gain 10% (Basic), 20% (advance), 30% (Expert) of your total spell points each day, it would be more reasonable!

The only time I miss mysticism is in the last map of
Dragon Slayer campaign of AB where you can't replenish
your spell point anyway. But you can still got those
spell regenerating arties.
Well, it seems some skills are highly favourable like log, earth, wis, off, arm,
while some are highly unfavourable like mysticism, eagle eyes, learning......
My view is not much different from others.

If i am playing a random map and see no well by end of wk
1 i usally take mysticisum because its a pain in the @$$
2 have 2 wait in town or that just 4 full points i think.
ON a regular toh map mystic. would never cross my mind

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a skill would not normally be offered to a hero when they go up in level, i.e. Leadership to the Necros and Water Magic to Barbs, then you cannot buy those skills at a university. They will appear in red. However, you can get those skills through a scholar or a witch hut.

Tactics are is and excellent skill too... Imagine a your shooter surrounded by your melee attackers against melee attackers too... Just a tip!

I think earth magic is always good to have. From the weakest (expert slow) to the stronger (town portal, implosion) levels. I usualy don't use diplomacy, witch seems to be the most polemicous skill of this discusion. I wonder if it really works as well as some guys says...

diplomacy is the strongest
With diplomacy you can recruit creatures for free... how much better can it get? It doesn't show up on some ToH maps which set all monsters to savage, but the very fact all monsters are set savage shows how much havoc diplo can reap.
Necro with diplo is the strongest, then infero. Doesn't really matter after that, about equally strong for all other towns.
On non-ToH maps you can win the entire map without ever buying any creatures from your towns cept the oens you get one day 1 if you have a diplo hero. And you can win before end of month 1 if you have more than a couple diplo hero.
