2 soldier and 2 civilian os South Korea was death by North Korea missile.
It gonna be worse if North Korea use their Nuke!

yeah, it's fairly terrifying as I feel were back in the 50's again. it's basically Kim jong-il (forgive me, I don't have his name infront of me) saying "So I'm dying... oh well, take a country with me, I suppose."

I hope he doesn't call his old(really old) pal Castro and convince him that "we should all go together when we go".
It's not that surprising though. It's not like they've had peace the last ten years or so. Just a war without direct casualties.

N.Korea is more or less alone against the world.
China? They are only at "peace" with them and holding "diplomatic relationships" because of what happened ages ago, that suddenly having a war at their border is bad, espcially since it could in worst case go out over Chinese civilians. If the war is won(more or less what will happen) then we have a really high number of people who has been stuck in a techological backward land, and is socially repressed to the point where they will have to rebuild their culture themself. It will be really really bad in its ways.
Korea in itself wants a united Korea, the goverment and all people doing statistics are well aware of that there is a war, Korea will most likely be united again, and they got a really large mess amount of people from North that has been living in a backward society. Which means it is a trouble that must be solved, and people with power hate to attempt to solve trouble 
Cuba don't want anything to do with such a ridicule dictatorship.
Etc........
This is not going to be the third world war, it is going to be the war where 1 country gets ganked.

On a more serious note, the North-Koreans are delusional dinosaurs forever stuck in the past. They really do deserve a good beating, especially after such an UNPROVOKED and lethal attack on innocent civilians (and soldiers, but they aren't exactly innocent, are they?)
Thing is good they're not yet used their nuke.

that really sucks and it reminds me how much happens in my life based on some land of the free under their decisions type of thing.
and I agree with you, I think a nuke would be worse :\
I was born in Seoul Korea, which I couldn't even spell right if I didn't use Mozilla. Thats pretty ****ed up

North Korea is an incredible interesting and awesome country to... observe. Because North Korea kind of feels fictional. It is so different from the rest of the world and I would love to go there (Swedes have no problems at all going to the DPRK) before it gets torn apart by war.
It will take a long time for the North korean to recover after having been brainwashed for such a long time.

This is EXACTLY why North Korea is such a scary phenomenon. The people are so blinded by the government that they are completely out of touch with reality and will believe anything government says, and government is completely inhibited by moral, and will do about anything to keep up the illusion of being a super power to the people.
It seems like the perfect recipe for a grand tragedy just waiting to happen.

Everything about North Korea feels like some kind of video game or TV show, but I guess it start feel very real if they decide to nuclear launch.
Lets hope the world's greatest and most respectable country China won't agree with North Koreas ideas and crush their government.

Many of you know that I've lived in South Korea for about 5 and a half years and I was at the boarder (which isn't entirely correct since there is no boarder there is only a line of demarcation) where North and South are literally staring each other down since the end of the war in the 50s. The place where they face off is called "Panmunjeom"
The "boarder" goes right through those houses (there is no actual fence there only a cement line in the earth... it doesn't sound inparticularily intimidating but when you stand right at gunpoint of two nations in a state of unstable "ceasefire" (remember in terms of international law North and South Korea are still at war!) and you stand right in front of that line and you can see the North Korean soldiers on the other side... the feeling is unreal and quite scary.) in theory all it would need is one step and you'd be in the North. Anyways my point is there is a very real sense of fear and terror in South Korea and the problem is that it's entirely justified. It's not as Bixie says that Kim Jong Ill simply says "to hell with it all I'm taking them with me!!" the thing is that North Korea is in a period of transition, while the future structures of highest military branches is in a state of "controled" transition the "middle to higher middle" (whatever I don't know what the correct military term is but you get the idea) is a bit clueless. And obviously with a new regime people get eager to make a name for themselves and somehow recommend themselves for promotions. That's why this is so dangerous. Because the transition in North Korea isn't stable. This can also be seen as the North wanting to flex it muscles to scare people into giving them more aid be it food or money. Unfortunately it's had the opposite effect and they aren't getting anything now.
Alcibiades North Korea doesn't do this to prove anything to it's people. It's people already are obidient collectives that worship Kim Jong Ills father Kim Ill Sung like a god (quite literally so). And when it comes to North Korea I actually know what I'm talking about. My fathers pioneered cultural exchange in North Korea from the German side and subsequently got to go there relatively often (which is both an immense achievement and privilege) and he's seen the country... obviously only the parts they actually showed him (you're never alone there, you're always under surveillance) but that's already scary enough).
But perhaps this is all to theoretical for you? Here's a personal example...My closest friend from korea who is a very stoic, tough and independant young medicin student on her way to becoming a marvelous doctor and beautiful selfrespecting women called me in tears because she was so scarred for her parents. Obviously most of you if not all of you don't have the same interest in this case as me but you don't have to in order to understand that this is not a laughing matter. So please consider this the next time you think you're being hillarious by typing "North Korea needs a good beating" or "Go Go North Korea"... It really isn't funny. Not in the slightest...

I think... most people in the Western countries just can not relate to the whole Korean conflict in the same way as the conflicts in the Middle-East etc. Because many like to think that this does not affect them at all and end up not taking it very serious but viewing the conflict more as some kind of wicked entertainment.

Your insight into the human psyche is as amazing as ever . The west probably can't relate to a conflict that happend technically identically on a much larger scale in their very mist until 1989? I doubt it...
Even if they couldn't remember the omnipresent and choking fear of the cold war or remember what they heard about it in any history lesson I'm pretty sure than any human being can show people that have to live in unjustified fear a meassure of respect. Whether it's the people suffering in Afgahnistan, anywhere in the middle east or people anywhere on this planet.

To be fair, though the USSR had nukes and the Eastern Bloc countries were oppressive, none of them were as crazy, unstable, and hostile as North Korea is right now.
