Now that is a weird match!
Scaring the phoenix indeed was clever, yet I don't understand why you waited that much to rush Elvin.
And you were lucky Giovanni did not have much mana or the duel would not have been so easy.
Btw, I have a noob question: what are the rules of such duels?
Is it only a match (with given hero and army), or do you have a fixed number of weeks to build your army?

@Swamplord, nice job promoting these replays that I don't have to fire up H5 to watch (pity the red-coloured hero stats are hard to see with my default resolution)...
In terms of might stats that you right-click on, I normally look for presence or absence of
- Power of Endurance (often indicated by expert defence plus vitality)
- Power of Speed (often indicated by adv/exp atk plus battle frenzy)
- Retribution (same indications as power of speed Plus leadership) and/or luck [if you see retribution + luck -- it can be woah]
Demonlords & necromancers often have both powers - that video was good demonstration why [I woulda thought a mass speed would have been casted by the necro there]
Also interesting how Elvin bided his time to gain rage instead of attacking immediately (I think) & there was centaurs OHKO ghosts!

Thanks for the insight! It's really helpful to know what to look for. And yep, I noticed the red hero stats are near-impossible to see even on 1080p video resolution, so I'm going to read the stats out loud from now on.

@Demonge: these are played on specially made Duel maps where players level up picking the skills they want & mentoring some out & buy army from a castle. Elvin is still mucking around with them so you can definitely ask him for one, even if you don't play online, it's good to play with yourself to test different builds/tactics

I didn't want to get within shooting range too fast, not before I had slowed the necro shooters and gained some rage - after all I could deal satisfactory damage with my own shooters and was not very afraid of dark. I had corrupt dark you see so every dark spell costed him twice as much mana, that is why he switched to summoning. Secondly our racials interacted with each other, for each ghost Naadir summoned that I killed I gained +4 attack  Cyclopes' charge was of course suicidal but it was worth decreasing the luck of both banshees and that monstrous lich stack.

The specific map version had a preset week 6 army, sphinx gave lvl 21 and there were two merchants for artifacts. Basically both opponents have equal opportunities, from there on it is a matter of levelling, luck with arties/spells, planning and of course luck

Umm the most important reason to pick them is to avoid them killing you with frenzy/puppet. No melee penalty isn't always on your side.

I remember that game against Blizzard. It was so much fun. I would obviously have lost if not for Zehir. We had 3 games and I got him 3 times in a row (he start's with Defense). Still if the Griffins would have resisted towards the end it would have been game for me. Poor chap.
And with the Albo game I was lucky to get Sandros cloack and fear my roar on the annoying princes coupled with a Haggash-Centaur lucky shot. Made a few mistakes here and there but still good game^^.
Aaaah I have to check out more replays!!!
Oh and thanks for posting something with me winning for a change.

Swamplord should probably prioritize those after the season 2 highlights are finished
Latest duel is the answer to why stronghold should have defense even vs academy. -16 kshatras on first action is freaky
