Looking for best spells should have nothing to do with in how many games they were. You're looking for the best spell, not the longest one in the game.
Fortune might have been in two games but it's still a lousy spell.
Earthquake has been in 4 games I think but it's still rather sucky one.
H3 shield might have only been in one game but it's still a godly spell. It's a game breaker.
Just as Mass Haste and Mass Slow are at times.
Same goes for Mass First/Snake strike and Dragon Strenght from H4.
And divine vengeance from H5.
Summon Phoenix has been in two games, same as fortune, but it's loads better and a lot more used, why isn't it on the list?
Etc. etc.

I said nothing about misfortune being bad. 
But fortune wasn't worth it. So many better options.

The results of the 1st round are as follows:

Bloodlust - Implosion 4:12
Chain Lightning - Lightning Bolt 9:7
Curse - Magic Arrow 8:8
Dimension Door - Meteor Shower 8:8
Dispel - Resurrection 4:12
Disrupting Ray - Slow 3:13
Earthquake - Stone Skin 4:11
Fire Ball - Summon Elemental 8:8
Fire Wall - Teleport 7:9

Whoops! We seem to have a bit of a situation here, as THREE of the pairs are even:
Curse - Magic Arrow 8:8
Dimension Door - Meteor Shower 8:8

We cannot allow that many spells to pass to the 2nd round, so I decided that the winner in each of these pairs will be decided on a coin toss that I conducted. I cannot post a video of it here to prove it's validity, so you'll have to trust me

Haste and own portal...sniff..love them both but haste is definitely more important to me (I try to almost ALLWAYS get expert air magic and haste in H3 )
Aslo, as you can see, I prefer "effect"-spells over direct damage

Boo. I don't like this set-up. Haste and Town Portal are probably among my top-3 spells, putting them up against each other is skewing things.
