Random Maps
Hi,
been playing a lot of HoMM3 again recently with friends, and I'm wondering if there's somewhere to find nice maps, or improve the random map generator in any way? We're not hardcore players, and we like to play with AI present on large-XL maps, and we are getting slightly annoyed with the somewhat sloppy results from the SOD generator. Also, the maps i've found online are either too simple, or way too advanced. Starting with more than one hero+town isn't something we find appealing!Can anyone help me with this? =)
Btw, saw some talk about some random map templates. How does this work, and is it simple to do without needing to put in a lot of time to it?

Random map templates are located here for example. Rename downloaded file to rmg.txt and put it in your DATA folder, then enjoy. Your maps both in game and in map editor will now be generated using this template.
Definitelly the most popular (and most crazy) is Jebus Cross, but you can try others too.
Note that not all of RMG options may be avaliable for each template.

As you said, Jebus Cross was waaay crazy. Having 4 topes surrounding the starting castle and 20 atk hero within two weeks is too fast paced for me  Thanks for the pointer though!
Still looking for some templates that allow more than 4 players... All I need is something that fixes the Pandoras Box madness and totally outrageous amounts of resources+artifacts. Must be something like that out there somewhere?

this isn't quite what ya'll are talking about but i have a question dealing with a random map i am playing. I am 3/4 through a random map, and i went through a 2 way monolith, but there is no other exit. I have been all through the area and there is no other way out of the area. If I go back through it just takes me back to where i was before. I really don't want to quit since i have put so much time and effort into the game, so I will take any advice ya'll have. thanks

Speaking of Random maps... (and this may be related to the previous post about getting stuck behind a teleporter).
I made a random map - medium, no water, average monsters, one computer opponent.
Found a cartographer hut, bought the amp. Discovered there was no access to the computer opponent. He was on the left side, I was on the right. I had access to the underground level and he didn't. There was a 2 way teleporter in the underground but it didn't work.
How often does something like this happen?

depends on template. If you play default set of random templates then you will see zone connection bugs from time to time

Hi,
Sorry I'm postining here, but I cant make new thread.
I'm searching for map from Heroes II, I played it about 4 years ago in HoMM III... I downloaded 3 map packs (about 4k maps) but there wasn't this one 
if someone have this map or some different, from HoMM II, please pm me or post here.

Yea... I just downloaded "Lost Continent" and beat it with a score of 498 the first time ever having played it. Started with Diplomacy, Rogues immediately joined me, adopted some dragons, then more dragons, then killed some dragons in their little castle dealie to get the Tome of Earth, ended up with Earth Magic and the rest was a walk in the park.
Good map though I guess.

do you know which/where can i download template where i have close/mid-open areas (including starting area aswell) with tons of utopias/artifacts, also with very strong enemies. i am playing homm3 since i was like 10, but always loved to play this kind of random maps.
i know there are templates like this, because it does sometimes random, i just dont know which template it is. thanks for help.

 Looks like I'm not the first one to do it in this thread, so wth, let's revive; I followed the link with the player-made maps, but is there a bigger list? And is there a place where one can get his own maps reviewed? =)
