I actually had to wait for a day and use the library computer.
So now that my wifi was fixed, I have finished reading. Isabel has been intro-ed, though shouldn't she be not in command of armies?

She's not. She just has the regular "noble's" alotment of men-at-arms and servants, but the guards from a nearby town realized the bear was too much and wanted an actual trained knight to come help them. And of course they can't get the army to come help because the Unicorn Army is currently watching the Heresh border. So their options were A. Get the knight to help, B. Hope that the bear runs off and let the village be destroyed, or C. Try to kill the bear and most likely lose a lot of men in the process.
Really I wouldn't call what she was doing "commanding an army". She brought down the bear herself, let the guards take a crack at killing it(and fail), then she went in and killed it herself. When I used the word "soldier", it was meant to mean at least partially trained fighter who wouldn't totally fail at fighting something. The group with Isabel were the guards of Stonehill Village, not really her men to command. Mostly they trailed along behind and let the knight do her work. So... Don't really get what you mean by "commanding an army".

Didn't really notice if you specified how many troops she had under her command... by armies, I generally mean anything more than 300. (Unless your name is Leonidas and you kicked a guy down a well)

Well in Isabel's intro, the highest number of people she was working with was like, a few dozen. Rider group: Under 10 people. Shooter group: Less than two dozen.
Isabel is not in charge of any armies at the moment and I don't really plan for her to be even in the future. Mostly just guard groups following her around in an attempt to keep her safe.
