Heroes 3- Complete and Windows 7 64-bit
I hope someone can help me.
I have Windows 7 64-bit and trying to play Heroes 3 Complete Edition. It's v.4.0.0. and it seems there is no patch for this version.
The problem is the lines where my cursor moves gets small tears on the screen, new tears add as I move the cursor which stay until I open a new screen, meaning open the town window or spell book or options, etc. So in nearly one minute the screen gets full of dots which I called tears.
I run the game as administrator, with compatibilty set to Windows 95. But it doesn't help. Also tried checking and unchecking everything under the "compatiblity" tab.
Is there any solution? Can someone help?

I had the same problem and could not get it resolved on my desktop C: drive. However, I installed all of HOMM 3 and WOG on a Smart Card and running it off of there seems to have resolved that problem. I have no idea why. Also, I have the compatibility set to Win 98 SP3.

Win 98 SP3?? I think you mixed up two titles It's should have been either Win98SE or WinXP SP3.
Anyway, it seems that there were some changes in the way OS handles filesystems, so running the game from a FAT-formatted drive solves the problem. (by the way, thanks for insight, I'll try your solution, because I can't get HoMM to work on Win 7 too.)

I've been running WoG 3.58f and some mods on a Windows 7/32-bit system for a couple years now, with no problems, but a version with the 1.09 New Objects patch will crash me to a blue screen, in normal mode. However, when I start my system in Safe mode, I have no problems running with the New Objects patch (except there is no sound in Safe mode, but I don't miss the sound much).
A friend had problems running normal WoG on a W7/64-bit system (Gateway NVU72 or something like that). Running from a copy of the Heroes3/WoG folder on a flash drive on that machine seems to work okay. I have asked him to also try running in Safe mode but haven't heard any results yet.
Good luck with your problems. Please let us know what works for you when you (I hope) resolve them.

Fotr those who use Windows 7, install SP1 and all available hotfixes because some of them solve problem with Direct2D.
