Fortress UPDATED Norse theme
Color for this faction is golden, light blue, pure white
Whenever the hero cast wind and water school spell they get converted to thunder and ice damage. Ability give rune to creatures. Creature can destroy those rune to use ability. Core unit can place a maximum of 2 rune elite 3 and champion 4 each rune give creature 5% magic resistance when placed. Also whenever a creature use rune ability it can only use once in a turn unless stated otherwise
Each time a rune ability his activated the bar fill out.
Level 1 Give 1 rune to every creature in the army
level 2 Give 1 rune to every creature in the army and one random core unit get full rune set
level 3 Give 1 rune to every creature in the army and one random elite unit get full rune set
level 4 Give 1 rune to every creature in the army and champion get full rune set
Advantage: magic resistant by adding rune and ability, best defense, Good supportive ability, magic breaker, Good at resisting siege
Disadvantage : Low attack and need time to raise on a reasonable level, need time to use ability. All unit cost more than average. Less flyer. Few range capability

Ice snake (Jörmungandr) (mix melee, mid range)Frost poison/ This creature attack also lower the defense of target by x% for x turn (depend on rune place on this creature). Also when this creature attack it can reach ~3 square distant target (maybe it should simply be a shooter. Calming ice/This creature can break a rune when his turn arrive if it does it can halve any enemy movement. (Upgrade) Ice pillar/ A 2x1 ice pillar (act like obstacle has ~2 structural point) come out of the ground (can be used twice per turn). Snare/ Any creature selecting this creature as a target (in melee) has a ~25% to stop 1 square distant of the snake (Snake could raise his head and stare with terrific glare at the target when it's activated)
Runic golem or Rune dwarf (if it golem has a core in the center of his chest and a shield if it dwarf it carry a shield with the same core in the middle of the shield) Abilities same has ambeon drake except you switch join the pack with Rune shield / Any ally standing behind this creature (cannot be shot or receive only a certain fraction of damage depend on mechanic of game) So large creature cannot be shielded at the start of combat unless you have tactic again depend on hero 6 mechanic. You could also add armored and shield wall.
Alternative tier 2 Ambeon Drake (mechanical defender) Runic magnet/ Any rune used by ally get recycled in this creature. Crystallize/ This creature transfer all the rune it accumulated into his core to meld them the magical essence created is used to charge the hero ability bar by a certain amount (require ~15 rune to activate and unit loose turn). Join the pack/ When forging this creature dwarf implanted this conception with the ferocity they admired in Fenrir. This creature get the same bonus has when the other two wolf fight side by side and even add to hit if they are 3 alongside)
Frost eye Basilisk (defensive support unit/ melee) Ice armor/ ~2 rune can only be used once per turn. This creature can envelope one ally or self with ice armor giving it ice shield (act like fire shield) Chilling gaze/ This creature has x% chance to freeze target for 1 turn on attack and counter-attack it also kill ~1 unit per 10 basilisk basic and 2 per 10 if upgraded when it trigger. Also when ice imbue is cast on this creature it increase the chance . (depend on rune placed) Snake king/ This creature is so terrifying that only ~75% of melee attacker strength can be used against it.

Twin Valkyrie- Valkyrie trio (Offensive support unit) (sorry for name but they explain better concept) Rune catalyze/ This creature get double (and maybe triple for upgrade depend on balancing issue here not sure) the rune when placed on her. Enchantment/ This creature can cast enchantments that last ~2 turn on an ally using rune (Ice imbue ~1 rune , Thunder imbue ~2 rune. Ice imbued unit deal additional damage and have a 10% chance to freeze target for 1 turn. Thunder imbued unit deal additional damage and make the target loose initiative). Transfer/ This creature can transfer 2 rune per turn to another creature and loose the turn doing so. If upgraded 3 rune can be transferred before loosing turn. /////Upgrade///// Three is better than two/ Being triplet they share a special link. Each one of this trio can shoot, cast or transfer and being triplet grant triple the rune that can be placed on this creature) If both creature shoot it only count has one shot but the combined force deal additional damage (Like ~20% more for example).
Odin Havoc rider (Armored melee supporter) Large. Storm of Ragnarok/ This unit hold his axe with both hand charge lightning and take the shot. This ability can be used once. After storm of Ragnarok has been used this unit can break all remaining rune to gain one charge of this ability. Runic forged armor/ The moment a lightning spell (hero or thunder imbue)is cast on this creature it can choose immediately an ally. For the next 2 turn this unit take the place of the ally when it is attacked in ranged or melee (The statistic of this creature are used instead and only ~50% or rune dependent number of the damage could goes trough. The armor could glow when the ally his attacked). Heavy armor/ This unit has strong defense.
Sky breaker (Raven warrior) (Melee magic breaker) Large(maybe depend if it's elite or core). Flyer (Magic breaker) Thunder seal/ By breaking 2 rune this creature can prevent the enemy hero from using any indirect ability or magic for 1 turn and do not loose turn. Vorpal blade/ Any unit attacked by this creature cannot use ability for 1 turn. Rune sword/ Each time a rune his activated this unit sword absorb some mana from the enemy hero. //// Whenever the enemy hero cast a spell the sword transform the energy used to cast it into rune and give it to a random unit (Could be proportional to the mana used like ~15 = 1) ////. or Whenever a rune ability is activated this creature gain Attack and speed/initiative. (((One of those possibility could work)))

Fenrir - Fenrir ascendant Large. 2 rune Howl/ Ally get:~10% to attack 3 rune Judgment/ Fenrir attack with a combo of slash attack. Deal 1 critical hit and target loose a turn. 4 Rune Ragnarok/ Fenrir impatience is unbearable the time has come super speed allow this creature to attack the ~4 closest target. Heart of wolverine/ During one turn each attack against this creature hardened it reducing damage and enrage it increasing damage but reset when the turn end( Instead of turn end could be reset when it attack). Wolf pack/ Whenever wolf gang-up it is never a good sign.
///////alternate for a 4 legged beast champion approach///// Large. 2 rune Howl/ Ally get:~10% to attack. Skadi's breath 3 rune/ Use ice based attack against up to 3 target in a line (diagonal also and deal ~50 damage to each target). Arctic Freeze 4 rune/ Ice come out all around Fenrir dealing damage to all enemy unit surrounding it

I like your idea,but what is a thane?Except for those weird dwarfs of H5 I've never heard of them.And I think the valkyrie doesn't really fit into the faction,I think something like a basilisk would be a better choice.

Whilst I can appreciate the lack of 6 dwarves and a salamander.... don't dwarves have a place here?
And why is the Fenrir the champion when it is incredibly underwhelming compared to say the Fire Giant, Jormungandr or Baslisk?
I know Fenrir plays an important role in Ragnarok, but so does Jormungandr who is also a child of Loki and a significantly more powerful and important figure of Norse myth, being the World Serpent and all.
Also I'd include a dwarf maybe two, and not by the name Thane.
Thane is a word for a royal vassal, so it's like a Duke for example, a sub-leader.
The Fortress faction in Ashan is themed around Dwarves and Fire.

I have a hard time believing that there is any way the Emo girl in the swamp could defeat the enormous golem on fire. Very cool pics though.

Slapping together a bunch of units from a single mythology just doesn't work, not when you put Valkyries (as close as the Norse mythos got to angels) together with Fenrir (an evil, slavering monster).

they are all creature originating from Norse or Celtic mythology so lore wise they fit together i think whit the right art they could be matched those are just random picture by the way Fenrir is the most powerful creature created by the Norse god Loki he was meant to kill Odin in Ragnarok but will be defeated by his son Thor
i don't mind changing the position it is not fixed im just pitching idea and asking your opinion anybody has another lineup proposition

looks much better in my opinion,I think it is quite cool that it has some kind of ice theme.
But I don't really know what the thane would look like(heck I don't even know what a thane is XD)

There you are wrong. being from sweden AND absolutely adoring Norse myth, i can't help but to snow about this!
first: Both Jörmungandr, Fenris AND Hel are "triplets" birthed by Loki at the same time! (i could tell you how he got pregnat, but i'm not sure you'd believe me)
second: Jörmungandr is the biggest and strongest of them and way to large to be in the game in any way outside boss territory.
Third: Thor does not kill Fenris. His brother does. Thoe dies about ten steps after Killing the Jörmungandr from it's poison.
now, after being done ranting, this does not feel to norse.
i would cut thane and focus on at least 2 dwarven units as well as cutting the Valkyre, as it deffinetely does not fit with theese dwarfs.
champion should, as Dragon suggests, be a Frost Giant, and the Fenris is absolutely Elite.
i have no idea what the gemini thing is, but i think you are on the right way of making the Dwarfs actually being norse in more than Building design
not to be mean, i want the fortress to be more like this, but it IS a dwarf faction, and DWARFS should be in! but yeah, more like this is a must...

Every mytho-monster taken straight out of the real stories would suck, you can take the Jormungdar for example and make it less big and more seaserpent like but call it Jormungdar for the general idea. The Minotaur was only 1 creature and was just like a bull version of the centaur, gladly they changed his model to be more game-friendly.
yeah, but then it wouldn't feel like the jörmungandr, witch is why i suggested it as a boss, giving it much more place to be large and stuff. i actually once had an idea for the Jörmungandr using it's huge size as a wall, but it was so weirdstrange i scrapped it and went with giants.

Sorry for the mythological mistake took it while conversating with a friend but thank for the feedback being still a work in progress i have never enough.
I think fortress should be more Norse related two since I think Norse myth are appealing. Not saying that this is the faction that should be but just giving idea. Easier to explain with example. Since we don't know how much faction will be in expansion I'm trying to keep both lizard and Norse unit since it is most likely that they both won't be there at the same time but could be.
I like both fortress faction but lizard faction and naga faction would seem odd so i thought this might be a good alternative. There come the idea of jörmungandr and basilisk.
But then again a wish and what is better for the game are two separate thing that why I'm open to all comments.

another update added a bird warrior while thinking of raven you could also say raven warrior. know the thing is i have so many option know while i found some new problem maybe one shooter his not enough (for example). Maybe Jörmungandr should be shooter. Know i have new line up choices

Thanes always seemed weird to me (giant dwarves?) until I realized they're more like the giants of Norse myth. We got a Fire Giant, and a... Storm Giant (should have been an Frost Giant but storms and winter are kinda related in the North).
