Game Purchase
I have a dilemma. Should i purchase this game even though i know it will not be near as much fun as the previous games? I might spend so much time thinking how boring it is compared to old school games that it might not be fun at all. However i know that this is the present and future of gaming. We will probably never have the interesting game play of old and should i just accept that? Maybe if i come to accept this fact i could enjoy Heroes again? This is a serious question, i am not just complaining.

I think you should wait, read some reviews, maybe play a demo, and then decide.

If you're a die hard fan YES
If you are not short on cash YES
If it's just another game to you, wait for it and do some snooping around first and then YES/NO

How do you know it will not be as fun as the old games?
It's a bit early to give that judgement.
Sure HoMMIII is hard to beat, but it's not unbeatable.
Sounds like you already made up your mind.
Just wait for some reviews and a demo.

When the open beta starts there should be plenty of feedback and impressions from the users. There is a lot more than meets the eye, all you have right now is a vague idea of what to expect. More important is to see how it plays out, what feelings it evokes, how responsive/addictive/fun it is.

I agree with everyone above; wait until the beta at least if you're unsure. It's not the right time to come to a conclusion yet.

With all the horrible design choices Ubisoft has made, I'll be getting the game through other means. IF it surprises me positively, I'll be supporting the franchise finanicially, but I doubt it. I suggest you do the same, or at least check out the beta first.

I'm sorry but that's a little odd.
You want the game but you want it for free because you think they did certain things wrong?
That's like saying you'll steal a nintendo 3DS because the launch titles are crap.
You want a product you pay for it, if you want to play Heroes VI, pay the money, if you don't agree with their design choices, boycott the game to express your disgust.
"acquiring it through other means without paying for it" is then pure hypocrisy and greed.
You can't have it both ways mate (not legally anyway) and I strongly suggest you stop talking about shady business on a dedicated fan forum.
It's not like we can stop you, but please don't boast about it, that is both rude and unwise.

Pirating the game is kinda counter-productive... especially when dealing with Ubisoft...
"Oh a lot of people are playing our game but not many are paying... let's go harder on the anti-piracy systems..."
"Uh boss I'm with you but maybe we should look at what Valve is doing... I mean; offering better service and support for the people that pay instead."
"Pffft hahaha, nah man, you mean we should care about the people that actually buy our games? Nah man, right now we gotta care about the pirates man, THE PIRATES! Anchors away, prepare the cannons! We gonna show them pirates who's boss! BRING ON THE DRM!"
"No really boss I think we should follow Valve's exam-"
"Bob, you're fired."
"But sir-"
"No Bob, get out."
"Ehm sir, I don't think we should fire Bob, I mean, he knows how to handle the coffee machine."
"Good point. Bob, you're employed again."
"Th-thank you sir."

On that matter I hope for a good demo. You know, show for free how awesome the game is and convince people to buy it.
Here games are really expensive, which feeds piracy, and piracy is not what makes the games expensive, it's just about overtaxing it like hell for no freaking reason.
Sadly its so common here to just download what you want to play that its not even "shady". Not that I support such thing, at least not nowadays with digital downloads *cough* steam *cough* being a reasonable option. What I mean is that its not always just about "oh, well, I'll not pay for this game", but it can be quite an economic investment for some, hence making people want to know where they're going before picking their wallets. And I don't know if that is our friend from some posts above's case, but anyway.
But Blizzard showed that it is possible to sell for a reasonable price, selling SC2 for R$49, while normally it would be 100 or a little more. For some reason I don't think Ubisoft will go through the same odyssey since heroes is a niche game, so I'll probably have to put it on the wait list. After Diablo 3, which I'm certain to buy

i am a Hardcore fan, so i AM buying the game no matter what!
i bought Disciples3 in spite of all negative reviews (needed to make sure by myself that it is a pieace of shhhh... not art as you guessed)
so i will definetely buy Heroes6..
but i know that HUGE number of people won't buy the Game in Russia (a big market for HoMM) and will just download the pirate version because of Town-Windows for example.. (i mean if they remain the same)... Ubi should concider that ... $$$

well, I like all the posts in this thread, honest and fair.
Regarding me, Im a hard fan of the series, but, besides that, i havent bought it yet; why? cose seems I'll have nothing in return for my fee, at least for now.
When I'll have a demo, beta, anything else then pictures to look at, or some childish stories, I will definitely buy it.

To be honest, that is actually the best attitude, for all I know I could be throwing money away with my pre-order.
Still feeling confident, but in the end it's much more of a gamble then a solid post-review purchase.
I'll be sure to keep you informed fairly and objectively about how the Beta performs (bearing in mind, Beta is Beta).

I'm also a big fan of the Heroes series, but I'm still not sure if I'll buy the game. I didn't play H5 for years after it came out because I tried the demo and didn't like the game. After a couple of years I read some more positive reviews, found the game with all expansions cheap on the web and thought I'd give it another try. I'm glad I did!
I will have to try H6 before I decide to buy it, either through a demo or via someone I know that have bought the game. If I don't like it I'll wait for an expansion and see if things have improved. I'm very patient, so it won't be a problem, even though this is the instalment I've been most excited about.
