So what's with Blackhole's trailers?
First some sample videos:
How a trailer should be:
Heroes VI debute trailer
SC2 follow up trailer
How Blackhole does follow up trailers:
Stronghold
Sanctuary
Few questions:
1) Why aren't they presenting the gameplay or story, but rather a guy I don't want to know or see?
2)You don't see Mike Morhaime with his persona explaining Diablo III to me in their trailers, so why can't these smaller companies learn from the biggest and the best?
3)Why are there two people explaining the story to me? It is very frustrating and an insult to my intelligence.

Most likely because they don't have a budget of several billions of dollars and neither a team of 40-50 artists devoted to making trailers and cinematics

I don't even get what your problem is.

I hate — Well, maybe not hate... — greatly dislike cinematic trailers like the kind you see from Blizzard... because they're just designed to look cool and to woo teens who like flashy graphics and titty-armor and overpowered characters who kills demons and stuff while looking unbearably smug.

BlackHole is a developer, UbiSoft is a publisher. I don't know which of both (or maybe some other studio) make the cinematics but the last two links that you posted are about reveal of the factions, not presenting the game itself at all.
Quote: 1) Why aren't they presenting the gameplay or story, but rather a guy I don't want to know or see?
Because the "guy that you don't want to know or see" and "his persona" are from the publisher (UbiSoft). There is more sense guys from the publisher to present stuffs like that.

Blizzard's trailers are superior to the Heroes VI faction intro trailers in one strong point:
Show, don't tell.
They show important elements rather then telling you about them, even Mangsk's speach at the end of the Terran campaign or the news report of the end of the Terran campaign in brood war were not directed at the player but illustrated (showed) elements of the story.
Though admittedly, a GAME should go even one step above "Show, don't tell" which is "Do, don't show".
Games are an interactive medium and should strive to maintain that as much as possible.
But a few cutscenes and cinematics don't hurt, especially when they aren't exposition dumps (Many final fantasy games fall into that trap during the first 5 hours and the last 2 hours of gameplay) or outright explenations (particulairly disturbing if it breaks the 4th wall).
Those faction intro cinematics would have been better if... heck lets bring up another blizzard example, because everybody knows blizzard.
DIABLO III's bestiary pages (oooh a curve ball!) introduce various enemies through the writings of a respected scholar on demons named Abd al-Hazir, this introduces the monsters in character, without breaking the 4th wall and adds flavour to boot.
If those faction intro trailers were done with say Kraal's voice actor narrating about Orcs (possibly adressing Sandor to remind him of what he's getting into) we likely wouldn't have been having this discussion.
Edit: And Warlocks, you seem to be the only person who has a problem with it, so I'd say "U MAD" only implying anger rather then a loss of sanity.
Edit2: Meh out of posts for today...
A lot of "Fanboy" accusations thrown' about in this thread.
There's nothing wrong with being a "fanboy" as long as you don't have a "they can do no wrong" attitude, because we all know both Blizz and Ubisoft are plenty capable of doing wrong, both companies have even admited to this repeatedly themselves.
Now asside from obvious trolling, lets play nice ok?

So you're watching a story in the form of a short movie, the special effects are awesome and they amaze you. And then all the sudden a big nerdy guy comes on (who happens to be working on the film), lets say its Steven Spielberg--he comes on the screen and he just starts saying "yea so the Japanese then attacked pearl harbor and its really interesting because they were ruthless and mean! It was a long battle. And it raged on for a long time until the Americans retaliated and ended the war in the pacific."
I'm sorry, that would be a distinct discourse to the way stories are told. The year isn't 1200 B.C., its 2011 A.D. I'll try to give Ubisoft the memo.

You want the full cutscenes and intro animations? Buy the game.
You want some dev videos where they explain more of the game to you, so you understand what they're trying to sell to you? Watch these "trailers."

I don't want the full cinematic cut-scenes, etc. What I want is a story. A STORY! Hello? Story? You there? Instead of attempting to provide an answer to my point, you brought up something completely different.

Maybe you should take these videos for what they actually are, not for what you were dreaming of. These trailers have never been meant to be stories but announcements - or as they named them "faction reveals".
You've been praising Blizzard, but if you check their latest trailers they also have non-cinematic ones were they're introducing the incoming content through boring interviews.

(note: read full)
Blizzard's non-cinematic trailers have a distinct "flow" to them. This "flow" allows for me to see this thing called "content." This "content" allows me to be interested in the trailer--which was the point of the trailer in the first place. "content" consists of a presentation of gameplay or cinematics.
Also, I don't expect the developers to have the most amazing trailers in the world. I just expect them to show the game and if they want to have a guy talking (not on the screen), BUT SHOW THE GAME. Stop showing me some guy. I don't care who you are Mr. Ubisoft. Show me the game or some story cinematic. Blizzard NEVER fails in showing this.
Yes, I'm getting a very strong sense of fanboy loyalty here. I know it hurts your feelings that one of your favorite companies (which is mine too) could possibly suck at something, but try your best to see.
Edit:
Note that it was mentioned that the debute trailer for Heroes VI was very good in the original post. In fact it was great. It flowed very well and made the game look very interesting.

Being called a fanboy is not something I'm used to.
I am not a fanboy just because I used Blizzard as an example for good trailers.
I'm a strong advocate that says the SC2 1-player story sucked, because it did. The game missions and graphics were great, but the story sucked really bad.
Between my friends and I we have all the systems. So we play them all. I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil 4, Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time/Wind Waker), Warcraft III, M&M: Clash of Heroes, Plants Vs. Zombies, Call of Duty Black Ops, Mortal Kombat (new one), etc...

Just to point out that the StarCraf 2 cinematics/cutscenes (and storytelling overall) are almost as bad as the Heroes V ones. Cheesy and artificial to the extreme. Unlike the StarCraft/Brood War cinematics - and especially the Brood War intro - which are an excellent achievement.
As for the thread itself - let's say that this summarizes my opinion as well:
Quote: designed to look cool and to woo teens who like flashy graphics and titty-armor and overpowered characters who kills demons and stuff while looking unbearably smug.
