cinematic art
ok, let me get this right off the bat. I F*cking hated the text boxes in heroes 3. it was unengaging, wooden and a little dull. it felt like someone had just dumped exposition onto my plate like a 5stone block of reprocessed cabbage and gone "there, eat it."
similarly, I hated the full motion cinematics from Heroes 5. they were clunky, poorly done, and certainly badly acted. it felt like someone have given me a live bear onto my plate with nothing to kill with but my bare hands.
anyway. I've come to offer a new method of story telling in games and add atmosphere to the game. Cinematic art. basically, you take pieces of art and animate them, allowing for arms to move, wind to blow, birds to fly, things to move etc etc, in order to tell a story, with a narration over the top, and music.
of course, that means boosting up the art production quality of the series (or at least making it more flowing) but it could work.

I believe they've done that in heroes kingdoms, haven't they?

I think its cool, at least it is a different way to do it.

had to FORCE me to read further after that. I personally liked the text messages in Heroes 3. Some pictures to it at soem points would certainly be nice, but I see no need for animations there...

again, this is all about offering alternatives.
I see plenty of messages saying that the cinematics to heroes 5 sucked (and they did), but on the other hand, I personally was unengaged by the text roll. I was just wanting to offer something that I think could be a nice compromise.
and since Makken as shown that stuff like this can be done, it wouldn't take much effort and would save us the god awful "I wish I was, godric, perhaps I should be" bullsh*ttery we had to endure.

i guess you Bixie don't like to read books
i honestly LOVED text boxes in Heroes4, they way the story was told was just Incredible!!!
i HATED the ones in Heroes5, looks like a cheap alternative, with all this Griffin Ethernal crap!
but i would hate even MORE if we get half animated pictures like you are offering.. it's just IMHO though..

I love reading books, but to be frank the story in the Heroes games never interested me. The text boxes I don't read, the cutscenes I might watch (the ones in H5 were so bad they were funny), so the cinematic art is welcomed by me.

For some reason I never find the time to read books,
but I've never had a problem with text-heavy video games (like Morrowind).
If the story turns out to be bad, I hope it weighs into 'So Bad It's Good' territory and not 'So Generic It's Boring'.

I never read none of the H3 boxes. Is not that I have something against them, but I don't like to stop the action to read a text box
I like to read, but not when I'm playing something
