Erik Saade is absolutely dreadful and easily Sweden's worst entry in the past 5 decades or so. It's a sh!tty version of some wanna-be Gaga song. I'd rather listen to "Friday" for 5 days straight than to listen to "Popular" (ugh) two times in a week.
I'm with Lexxan here, absolutely dreadful is exactly what that song is. I don't see any redeaming qualities to it; the melody is forgettable, the lyrics are trivial, the singing is mediocre, and the whole dance-setup is completely trash. But year, I guess all the 12 year old girls will like it.

Quote: For me personally, Eurovision SUCKS because 90% of contenders "sing" in the boring, overused, limited, and primitive English
If it's so boring why are you living in England? Surely the worse place to live if you don't like the accent!!
The Americans seems to like the English accent and I'm not the only one that knows that am I Meroe hehe

I'm so hoping we have a TOP5 of Hungary/Austria/Netherlands/France/Serbia, as unlikely as it is. It is probably the best result I myself can hope for.
But yeah, this edition is just plain awful. Nearly 3/4 of the songs do NOTHING for me, and some are just plain insufferable. (I already whined about Sweden and Greece, but you can add Russia, Moldova, Portugal, etc to this list as well -_-).
Oh, yeah not to mention the soulless Run-The-Millequetoast pop songs that are so cliché they are devoid of any possible emotion or sincerity. I do not believe in stuff like the Azeri entry. It's too fabricated and very unmoving to boot. I'd almost describe it as ROBOTIC.
So weird because everthing seems to suck (read: lack in qualty) this year.
On a side note: Is there actually anything Doomforge likes? Not counting whining about crappy stuff and sex ofc.

but the song is supposed to represent Sweden
to me, a person who has lived here for 20 years and does not even speak swedish does not represent Swedish well
no offense but the Danish song sounds like a copy of an older swedish semi-final song which got fairly popular here
atleast the chorus - its exactly the same XDDD
compare
Denmark Eurovision 2011
VS
Sweden Semifinal 2006
Surely they sounds similar?
I actually like Belarus song now. But Albanias song is just scary. :S
I am disappointed with the Nordic countries. They usually have very good songs but this time the only good one is the Born this Way and Waka Waka + The Lion King hybrid "Haba haba" Norwegian entry.

I don't get the Haba Haba love. I think it a bit too vapid and not nearly as cheerfull as it should be.
The Danish entry sounded EXTREMELY familiar however. I need to know what mainstream song they "leased" their melody from.

Somebody speaks the truth!!!!
As for Eurovison, just another complete waste of time which further degenerates the already crap music of today. They keep pumping crap after crap and it's little wonder why music sucks nowadays. A clear example of music sucking was last years song. I think it was Lena or something. It's such a shame because music used to be about making it for the love of it rather than the money and popularity and all.

Pffft
It's about music. I can understand if you see some grander scheme behind it, like spreading GLORY OF SWEDEN IN NAME OF ODEN and CONQUER THE WORLD WITH OUR SWEDISHNESS but ehh... nah.

Admittedly, that's a blatant rip-off of the melody line. If I'm not mistaken, I think it might even be the same who wrote them, I think the writer had written contest songs for other countries before.

*shivers* That was pretty bad.
I think that's the problem this year. So many of the chosen songs are just so... overly sunny. I mean I realize a mainstream competition like Eurovision probably won't attract metal songs and such (unfortunately ), and I can still appreciate a good pop song, but it's more obvious this year than in 2010+2009 that young chicks are driving the competition. I want more exciting songs, like France 2010.

^ Frau logic. The more Twinkish, Infantile and Whitebread a male singer is, the more they like it. (unless he's some extremely sultry Don Juan/Casanove type).

This is absolutely true. Satelite was a pretty decent song (although the live preformance in Oslo last year was pretty terrible). Taken by a Stranger otoh... Not one of my favorite music styles, at least. He's just too quirky and too weird for my tastes.

What? I didn't say I don't like the English accent, I said I hate most contenders SINGING in English, instead of their language, with THEIR stupid accents. I actually prefer the English (a bit funny to say English, since every little town in England has a different accent) accent to the American ones. Oh...and nothing beats Scottish!
