OK i have a big problem in HOMM 3 campaign!!!
this is kinda emberesing :/ i have a prob. in the campaign Dungeon and Dragons third lvl were u have to capture stadwick!!! I bearly loose evry time! any advis!??!?! plz i HATE! That "super heroe" general K....something and i need some advise and i know its embaresing!!!

You can't lure him out. Any computer opponent will stay tight in his town when you're around. Only if he has a stronger army than yours will he come and fight you. I haven't played the campaigns yet, but I think I'll start them. Are they harder than a scenario played on 200%?

this is how the game is made. He just comes out to you but he has a short movement and you have Castles. :-)

I have won that Kendall by luring him out of castle. You need several heroes for it. One acting as a decoy and another who has your forces and means to attack the castle from far (if I remember right you can get Dimension Door from that map).
I also won him by attacking him with Magic hero first who had Dungeon forces and then finishing him with Might hero who had Inferno forces. It has been some time since I played it though.

maybe this is because i played it on an easier level but this is what i did to cap steadwick... Took me a couple of tries though
I capped most of the towns topside, ignoring the Tower town in the southwest corner, and had some basic defenses in those towns. And i waited....
I beefed up my dungeon and inferno towns, and only put markets and city halls in the other towns. And store as many creatures as possible in it
I waited till the end of the second month to cap the town to the east of steadwick, and then i waited a bit more, maybe the first week of the third month, and made two heroes with all the creatures in the town, to haul it to steadwick. A powerful magic hero is helpful, I had the one magic one that has the specialty of intelligence(?) gavr a 5% bonus to magic points per level, wihch gives a huge help in the extended battle with kendal

yeah ok thx for the advice ill try again!!!
were is that Dimensions Door!?!??! kendell was in a
windmill(?!?!) for the whole tim when i came near hi jumped in his castel!!!! but ill try to use some of these advice and KICK his ass!!!!!

Most times I believe you get it from Relics that lie around. It's common you have either Angel Wings, Tome of Air magic, or Spellbinder's hat in this scenario. many times I've had one of these artis in the far north-east corner of the map.
I'm not sure but I don't think DD and Fly is disabled in the castles, so building up a level 5 Mage Guild in the Tower or Rampart is likely to net you these spells.
The usual way to beat him is to hit him with a Magic user and some Blackies/Efreet armed with Armageddon (spread them out on several stacks so he has to use a few turns to take them out.). You should have this spell unless you're totally out of luck.
Sometimes, you can even take him out with nothing else than all your Blackies, Armageddon and a strong magic user. If not have a might hero attack with the Bulk of your troops shortly afterwards. They should be able to do short work of the rest of the troops.
Also for the magic user consider to block off the Generals troops by placing your Dragons before the Drawbridge. And if you have Ballistics, don't take out the Towers/Turrets. Much more important to keep the General's Champions away from your Dragons. So defend with your catapult. The Marksmen and Zealots are both very Vulnerable to your Armageddon.

hehe i remember when i cleared that campaign, first time i did it i manage to lure kendall out of the castle...just for 2.nd hero with killer stats to defend it..and he had the no magic orb. But since comp suck at fighting i managed to kill him with worser stats/army.
The 2.nd time i played campaign i had jeddite from previous scenarios with expert earth so i just rushed steadwick and resurrected my troops for an easy win.
Oh btw, after that i started with playing heroes3 online and i got 1.4 patch, when u have that patch the steadwick scenario is reduced in difficulty. But if i were u id try it on 1.0 for a challenge, prolly the only challenge u will get on those ROE campaings...

It was long ago but I remember this battle.
You must simple lure out the guy from his castle.
But then get to his castle first. How to make the comp attack you in the castle...?
**SPOILER** - this will make your future battles with the
comp very easy:

Split your army in two equally strong halves - one as defenders and others in the hero at the gate. The AI will think that you have two heroes- one In and one at the gate. Then the comp will attack the castle "thinking" that he will take the first hero out too easy. But he is wrong coz you will meet him with all your troops behind the gates. This is a major but legal spoiler and is working anytime. But makes the game too easy I think.

Yea, this is very ineteresting for me coz I'm also at that scenario now. I'll try all the methods described in this thread, but I also have a problem with scen 3 of Spoils of War campaign (where I play for Barbarians). Any time when I try to make a next attack on teh enemy, the Dracon hero (from Fortress) with good stats and a strong army appears in the teleporter and starts to capture my castles. And I canot win...
If anyone knows how to solve this problem please help! (or maybe I just have to play for the Fortress?).

Campaigns are nasty.. the only way I can manage them all the way through is but cheating (shock horror) on some of them, but my advice for a lure would be to place several weak (ie 1 or 2 creatures) heros near the castle. He may come out to attack you, In which case your strong hero should be within strking distance of the weak hero but not of the castle so it won't affect the AI's survival instincts...
That sounds like it makes no sense at all, doesn't it?

Hmm... the problem is that me and my enemy have almost equal armies. So, I just need to wait until my castle-defending hero gains a big army, but when he will, the enemy will have a 2 times bigger army...
So, I'll try to start the campaign again and to gather more stats for my heroes... this can play a vital role.

How to take Steadwick in 21 days...
I played through this Campaign yesterday and made some notes on the status as I progressed.
Input Inferno heroes (You'll have better if you start with Dungeon.)
Listed Heroes with all Elemental magic skills and level 4 and above spells.
1. Octavia, level 11. Basic Earth, Fire Shield
2. Ignatius, level 12. Advanced Earth, Resurrection
3. Rashka, level 10. Expert Earth, Town Portal, Fire Shield
4. Zydar, level 7. Expert Fire, Fire Shield, Town Portal, Resurrection, Fire Elemental
5. Clavius, level 6. Basic Water, Basic Air
6. Gunnar, level 5.
7. Marius, level 5. Expert Water
8. Ayden, level 5. Advanced Earth.
Dungeon is built for creatures, all other towns for money. I'll note main events for the Dungeon town only. Dungeon has level 1-3 dwellings and Mage Guild Level 2 built. I assume it's the same for you.
Day 1.
Dungeon: Chillwater builds Chapel of Stilled Voices.
1 sawmill and 2 ore pits flagged.
Make sure to optimize movement here. Place Gogs on some heroes and Imps/Familiars and Hellhounds on other heroes. Upgrade the Imps and Trogs you can get, and purchase all the creatures in the Dungeon and Inferno.
Day 2.
Castle: Kanan builds Town Hall.
Chillwater builds Labyrinth.
Day 3.
Inferno: Enkindle builds City Hall.
Chillwater builds Mana Vortex.
Zydar flags the Red Dragon Dwelling. (Loses 3 Minotaurs and some Trogs. Fight won through summoning 28 Fire Elementals.) This is the ONLY dwelling you should flag during the game.
Zydar level 8, Basic Earth.
Artifact in corner Endless Sack of Gold. (I never take this...)
You can flag this dwelling at any time during week 1, just make sure you do it in week 1. When you've flagged it build the Portal of Summoning. It will give you an additional Red Dragon. (Make sure to recruit the Dragon from the external dwelling and the portal each week.)
Day 4.
Chillwater builds Portal of Summoning.
Zydar gets the second Red Dragon, he has now the two Reds as his only troops, and with doubled Mana.
2 sawmills, 2 ore pits and 1 crystal cavern.
Day 5.
Chillwater builds Manticore Lair.
Zydar gets Orb of Tempesterous Fire.
Day 6.
No builds, saving money for the Dragon Cave.
2 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 2 sulphur dunes, 1 gem pond and 1 crystal cavern.
Gunnar has a join with 12 Medusa.
Day 7.
Chillwater builds Dragon Cave. (Sell resources to raise the money needed. At any cost build this dwelling in week 1.)
Day 8.
Rashka captures Rampart in the North (Green Falls) and builds Town Hall in it.
Chillwater builds Blacksmith.
Rashka, level 11. Basic Water.
Gunnar (with 1st week's level 1-4 Dungeon troops) has a lucky join netting me 10 Dendroid Soldiers.
Gunnar level 6. Basic Air.
2 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 2 sulphur dunes, 1 gem pond, 1 alchemist's lab and 1 crystal cavern
Day 9.
Kanan builds City Hall.
Chillwater builds Marketplace.
Zydar level 9, Advanced Earth. Zydar captures Castellatus. (Southern castle, Town Hall)
Gunnar has another join, 17 Pegasi. Gunnar captures Armitage. (Castle East of Steadwick, Town hall.)
Day 10.
Chillwater builds City Hall.
Armitage builds City Hall.
Gunnar gets Equestrian gloves. (Guarded by a pack of Master Genies.)
2 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 2 sulphur dunes, 1 gem pond, 2 alchemist's lab and 1 crystal cavern
Relic in NE, Sea-captain's Helm, guarded by Angels. (I'm ignoring it.)
Day 11.
Chillwater builds Castle.
Castellatus builds City Hall.
Gunnar level 7, Advanced Air.
3 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 2 sulphur dunes, 1 gem pond, 2 alchemist's lab and 1 crystal cavern
Day 12
Chillwater builds Capitol.
3 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 3 sulphur dunes, 1 gem pond, 3 alchemist's lab and 1 crystal cavern
Zydar level 10, Advanced Earth
Gunnar level 8, Expert Air.
Day 13.
Chillwater builds Mage Guild level 3.
Ayden picks up Dragonbone Greaves.
Rashka uses Town Portal to get 5 Red Dragons in his army.
Zydar captures Shield of the Damned guarded by a pack of Dread Knights. (Zydar still has two Red Dragons.)
3 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 3 sulphur dunes, 2 gem pond, 3 alchemist's lab and 1 crystal cavern
Day 14.
Chillwater builds upgraded Dragon Cave.
Zydar, level 11. Zydar visits Library of Enlightment
Day 15.
First sighting of the enemy.
Rashka level 12. Advanced Water.
Clavius level 7, Basic Earth
Gunnar level 9, Basic Fire
Zydar captures Silverwing (Tower in SW)
Day 16.
Chillwater builds Battle Scholar Academy
Zydar level 12.
3 sawmills, 2 ore pits, 3 sulphur dunes, 2 gem pond, 3 alchemist's lab and 2 crystal cavern
Day 17.
Chillwater upgrades Labyrinth.
Rashka gets Dragon Wing Tabard.
Zydar Town Portals and upgrades to Black Dragons and purchases available Dragons. (Now has 7 Black Dragons.)
Day 18.
Chillwater build Mage Guild level 4, Armageddon+Town Portal
Rashka level 13, gets Expert Scholar
Rashka TPs to Chillwater and then meets Zydar, teaches Armageddon and hands over his Black dragons, keeping Minotaurs.
Zydar takes out the Garrison north of Armitage with 12 Black Dragon, as a low level Red Hero. Two Armageddons and the Garrison is gone, without losses. Zydar level 13.
3 sawmills, 3 ore pits, 3 sulphur dunes, 2 gem pond, 3 alchemist's lab and 2 crystal cavern
Day 19.
Chillwater upgrades Harpy Loft.
Zydar level 14, Expert Earth
Gunnar level 10, Advanced Fire.
Day 20.
Chillwater upgrades Chapel of Stilled Voices.
Rashka visits Library of Enlightment.
Zydar smashes through the magic garrison between Armitage and Steadwick. Armed with 12 Black Dragons and some stacks to protect the Black Dragons and take retaliation from Champions. I used Efreet Sultans which I got from a refuge camp and some Hellhounds. One Black Dragon and the rest of the stacks are lost.
Day 21.
Zydar attacks Steadwick with 11 Black Dragons!
Expert Wisdom, Sorcery, Fire Magic, Earth Magic, and Tactics
Attack:8, Defence:10, Spellpower:14, Spellpoints: 73.
Artifacts: Orb of Tempestrous Fire and Shield of the Damned (included in stats)
General Kendall has 40 Zealots, 50 Crusaders, 58 Marksmen, 30 Champions, 52 Royal Griffin and 6 Cavaliers.
Attack:13, Defence:17, Spellpower:10, Knowledge: 13
Zydar casts Armageddon (6 Crusaders and 15 Champions left)
Zydar moves Black Dragons before Drawbridge.
Kendall casts Protection from Fire on Champions
Next turn:
Zydar casts Armageddon
Zydar attacks with Black Dragons.
Battle Won!
A little bit safer approach would have been to stock up with 5 more Black Dragons and the rest of the Dungeon troops on the next day.

Expert Berserk
I played this map not to long ago. I beat Kendal with an expert berserk spell. I found a lot of humor in watching his army beat the crap out of each other. You actually want to keep his army behind his castle wall, keeps them together. Caste the spell on his faster units to keep them there. You will leave a winner and hardly lose anything.
