Quote: It doesn't say that she didn't knock. If you've ever been to hotels they usually have a tag that you hang on the doorknob if you don't want to be disturbed, want cleaning service, etc.
idk, I've been to some hotels and the staff walking in into your room is pretty much out of the question, it violates your privacy. And in a luxury 3000-$-for-night, no less. Think how many lawyers would be up their butts if the staff member would bump into a celebrity and a prostitute.

If the "Do Not Disturb" tag is not on the door, the maids will enter your room. They're supposed to knock first, but it's usually just a "warning, get your clothes on" knock because the door opens almost immediately. They then call housekeeping when the door is open and then they enter.
I've had a maid come in when I've been in the room and I didn't remember hearing the knock.

I'm not positive how it works in a 3k-per night hotel since, shockingly, I've never stayed in one. But for any hotel that I know of, you hang on your door if you want cleaning service or want to not be disturbed. If there's nothing on the door and the cleaning maids are making their rounds, they'll knock and listen if anybody is there. If there's no response they'll go in. I worked at the front desk in a mid-level hotel during uni for a year and that's how it worked. That's how it has worked in any hotel I've stayed in, including one time where I was in a presidential suite in Baltimore for a few days; it wasn't anything like a 3k-per-night hotel, but it was much more than your average room.

wow, seriously?
Gotta love Poland then. Or maybe it's just cheap hotels where nobody bothers with cleaning (I can't afford any others )
Either way, the rest of my post still applies.

Yeah, normally they'll go in and clean up and sort out of your luggage for you. One day I came back and last night's underwear (which was in my bed) was folded and tucked back in my luggage, and my cosmetics were rearranged. Even if you're in the shower they'll often come in anyway and clean. I once had a lady cleaning the sink while I was in the bathtub and we never said anything to each other. She was just doing her rounds is all.

Does it mean that whenever you want to have sex with your girlfriend, you have to expect an old lady walking in the middle?

I'm just ****ing with you. The other posts are all true though. It's pretty normal for a maid to tidy up your room while you're away if you're staying in a hotel for more than one day at a time; give you fresh towels and such.

Frankly, I wouldn't stay in a hotel where the maids did NOT come in and clean while I was away for the day. Even the cheaper hotels here do that.

That actually happend to me in Japan. In onsens they just walk in and start replacing towels and what not. It was hillarious the first time it happend because she was trying so hard to pretend not to see anyone lol. She still blushed like there was no tomorrow. Probably why usually only elder ladies take the job...

Well she's around Japanese men all the time so you were probably a whole new level for her.
I wouldn't give much of a **** either way, but I think I'd rather have my penis exposed around a young or middle-aged woman than a grandmotherly figure. And for once I'm not being perverted, I'm just saying if anytime it would be awkward it would be around the grandmotherly woman.

Evidently Strauss-Kahn had attacked a woman previously.

Quote:
A French politician said Monday that International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is facing sexual assault charges in New York, attacked her daughter in 2002.
Anne Mansouret, a member of parliament for the Socialist Party, said she cautioned her daughter, Tristane Banon, not to file a police report at the time, saying it might adversely impact her career. At the time, Banon was an aspiring journalist.

He did not want to quickly escape, his Paris flight was already reserved since couple of days. Do you know how the police found him in the plane?
DSK phoned at the hotel and asked an employee to check for his phone he forgot in the room, telling him he is in the plane for Paris at the moment. Check police sources, it is the truth.
So basically, a rapist calls victim's home to tell exactly where he is, after the facts. I would not call this a common behavior.
As for the journalist who claims he assaulted her years ago, she never told this story before. It comes now, when everything is hot around him. He is IFM director, means he has a lot of power and his decisions could upset a lot of people.

Were you expecting him to go underground for the rest of his life or something? He's a 62-year-old rich fatass, he'll obviously defend himself through legal channels even if he is guilty.

My first though was .. He didn't just do what I think he did? And they actually caught him?
I am not actually glad for that but one can't help but appreciate the irony. A man like him can pretty much do and get away with everything. Seems Americans don't give a crap about that though. If he did do it it is more than amusing, if not.. really sucky situation. Everything ruined in one single moment.

In France, we are more inclined to keep the innocence presumption safe until evidences are coming up, mostly because we had the Outreau scandal, where a lot of people were condemned for pedophilia, some of them spent years in prison, one even suicided while in, and in the end, the kids retracted everything they said, it was a hoax orchestrated by an angry gran-mother. A catastrophe of justice.

Looks like Strauss-Kahn won't be president of France.
Clicky
Quote:
Law enforcement sources told FoxNews.com that blood found on bed sheets in the luxury suite in Manhattan’s Sofitel Hotel, where Strauss-Kahn stayed Friday night, could support the sexual assault claim of the alleged victim.
A rape kit found DNA evidence on the woman, who sources described as ashamed to report the violent attack. She eventually told law enforcement officials the graphic details.
Crime scene investigators found additional evidence at the scene, removing fibers and DNA and swaths of carpet and fabric from the suite for further forensic testing, sources said.

So now they can detect if the skin from a person is from rape or if it was just the natural dropping of skin that occurs every second of every day? Fascinating.
Not to say nothing happened, but still... WTF are they looking to find? And if the woman claims that he tried to rape her, then why did she wait until now to disclose any of the details?
Less and less believable by the day...

At the least France has been trough it, and their media will handle the case more close to properly.
Normal people have some large illusion that the media will behave and report the truth.
If he is innocent, theoretically the entire staff of roughly all top level US newspapers and TV stations that has spread the news by their very best should be fired, fined and tried for long jail sentences.
That are, if the fires of the media actually spread to france.
What is the reaction down there? If it has been bombarding the locals, he has lost all ability to win anything, due a scam.
