Is it strategy...?
Hello everyone, it's been years since I played heroes, and now I installed 2, 3 and 4 to play a bit from each one, and after playing HoMM2 I realized something... I spent a lot of time reloading save games because AI is incredibly tricky... In just one attack, he gets luck + moral + luck again. With creatures like Crusaders vs Undead, it can easily turn the entire battle around. In HoMM3 I don't experience such incredible shifts of advantage, and I'm still new in HoMM4... Even in HoMM5 there wasn't such surprises. It's not just moral and luck, AI really uses his units at maximum usefulness (or is just lame by casting spells and then running away). Maybe it's just the fact that AI gets free army in HoMM2, or I'm simply lacking knowledge needed in it.
So what I want to know is: do people actually reload games when playing singleplayer or just go like "ok, I lost, time to start new game"? Please, share your thoughts.

Everyone reloads. Sometimes you have to like if you sometimes misclicked.
Also, starting a new game every time you "lose" is tedious and boring imo. You can learn a lot from just loading and trying different approaches.

I see, thanks for reply. Thing is, in HoMM2 I have to literally play "perfect turn" which means disabling all of AI units and playing with all mine first if I want to achieve true victory. Letting one unit live usually means elemental rain/holy shout/armagedon which each hero has somehow, and flee
And I don't see learning exactly what will AI do is strategy... You don't get such luxury in rts games and AI is not suicidal so much. In HoMM2 he can, since I know he gets free units all the time (buying new heroes with Hydras etc.)
Older games sure where hardcore....
