NEW TOWN: The Covenant
So I've only been working on my new town for about 2 months now, but I'd say I am 30% done so I will give some quick peaks so I can get some feedback. If anyone has ever played Halo, this is a town inspired from the enemies of the Halo series, known as the covenant. Here's a few animations from some creatures I have already made.
Grunt
Jackal Major
Brute
Sword Elite
Hunter
The team with be, in increasing strength
grunt/grunt heroes
jackal/jackal majors
buggers/drones
brutes/brute chieftains
elites/sword elites
hunters/hurgalok's hunters
ghosts/wraiths/scarabs (same name as units already in game, different creatures)
I will also have around 15 heroes, some with interesting specialties and perhaps a few other scripted goodies. Here is a pic of the town with every building built and upgraded (minus 1 technically). I believe 10 of the buildings are animated at the moment, some more noticeably than others. As of now the artifact merchant has been replaced with a much more army fun building, and the magic university is scrapped for a building that allows 2 builds a turn...for a hefty cost.
UPDATE 8/5/11: I have spent the last month away from animating because I was pissed off that I would have to replace the Conflux and I do love them so dearly. Instead of creatures I have made a 700+ line script that makes it so the team is added without replacing another team, sort of...allow me to explain.
I did not code miracles like HotA or anything, but their release seems dim so perhaps my way is best. Currently I made a wog option so that, when selected, the Conflux is replaced for that game only. So click it off and the old Conflux is back. Yes this does mean the only pitfall of my code is that you can never play conflux vs. covenant, a small price to pay. At the moment I have replaced all town buildings, pictures in ITPA, CPRSMALL, TWCRPORT and others as well as added 15 new creatures using the Era plugin. If anyone is interested in my script let me know and I can send it. Here's some updated pictures, I would say my progress is around 50%

Not bad, not bad at all. Looks pretty fantastic as for sci-fi faction.

Oh ok I was getting a bad new town vibe from some people here but I guess it wasn't enough to stop me. When AB came out I was so excited for a new town, I wanted to offer that feeling once again.

I love the idea but wonder (lack of programing knowledge here) does it have to replace a town? I have a friend that loves the conflux so he would want to keep playing that while i would like to reek havoc on him with the covenant

As of this moment there is no way to add another town until HotA comes out, IF it does. Even then, we may not get a simple script to do so. I also love the conflux, but they are definitely the least fitting team in the game, but here are some of my other ideas.
I can change the script that replaces conflux with Neutral Town, so that you can choose to play covenant or conflux. The main problem with this is that I would be replacing neutral units of the game which are far more prevalent (some) than the conflux units besides the original elementals.
My other option is to occupy all four unused slots, replace all the messengers (useless IMHO) and replace 7ish other creatures, most likely the sharpshooters, nightmares/hell steeds, dracolich, etc. This would then be the town replacing the covenent with the neutral town script.
As a player, which or what else would you find best for the game?

Yes that is another option, although I have yet to get it working, probably just from my own ineptitude. Without a town for the conflux creatures though, it hardly seems worth it to keep them. If I edit the neutral town script though then yes, I suppose this could be the best solution.

What is a round shiny? It looks strange, but I like it
The first thing I think after the viewing of images, your units are missing graphical differentiation. Take care of it, to respectively different from each other in terms of levels and specializations (shooting, flying). I know it's difficult, but it affects the enjoyment of the fight... and releasing the town
Besides - the large building in the foreground could use a blur filter, it is pixelized
I think is not bad, most importantly, You has already done much work.
BTW. DO You continue work on the city?

Can you explain what you mean more by graphical differentiation? Without seeing the full defs in action I doubt you can fully grasp which one does which. They are not all gun shooters or anything and the ones that will fly and such just haven't been made yet. The round shiny is the shield of a jackal, http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Kig-yar if you're interested.
I am currently still making the town very much with slight help from one other guy who mostly tests what I do. I'm hoping to be done by the end of the year!

Of course, animation can make a difference, I have seen only a stationary screen of your units (with the exception of a short snippet of animation). I insist in my opinion with nothing more.

Ah I see. I am in fact making the team for those who actually know about Halo. I realize if you've never played the units may all look similar in varying degrees of strength, but it is very obvious if you've played. Also the bottom unit (sword elite, upg 5th unit) may be 2hex whereas grunts are 1. I may make grunts about 40% smaller than they are right now...thanks for the criticisms I can never get enough.

Om nom nom. My friend asked what the colored mushrooms were. You really need to see Jackals in battle to get a good feel for them. Pictures don't seem to do them justice.

The idea of this town is nice, but the animations less
Some of the things are pixelized, some of them are very choppy.
But I must admit, I like the town look on map =)
Keep it up, it can be an interesting town

The siege screen looks good,excepting walls color.If you use photoshop I suggest first to make the frames in RBG colors and then index them,so the colors will not be altered.

If I'm using an image when I put it into photoshop, isn't it already in RBG mode? It always messes it up when I index, I tried to get around it but not too well
