Firewall is not bad when you have few slots which get attacked from all sides, a few damages are welcome.
Force field is god like spell, mostly vs neutrals. It protects your units from being reached. If casted every turn, it offer 100% protection vs walking units
Quick sand is good in uber custom maps, where you have to defeat million of creatures and need to keep ammo cart until the end.

Firewall is rarely used. Only real benefit is if you play with Luna and have no good army in early stages of the game.
Forcefield - again rarely used in real game. Mostly to protect shooters. The big problem is it cost a lot of mana (having to cast it every 2 turn).
Quicksand is the most usefull from these 3 spells. Its especialy good against 2 hexed walkers - behemots, nagas, hidras. In combination with slow it can do wonders. The best thing about quicksand is - the sands stay the whole time. They are indipendant from the spell power.
Its very usefull to keep at distance the walkers while shooting them.
Its even better if your main force is no retall unit - Vamps, Devils, big stack of harpy hags.

Imo Forcefield is great since it can be really helpful vs neutral and in pvp to protect shooters. I dont like QS because its too random for me, sometimes the placement is so bad that it isnt even worth of 1 wasted turn. Firewall is just AWESOME with Luna, having just few pixies u can pwn almost every walking creature and own creature banks as well. (crypts, imp caches, naga banks)

All three of these spells are rarely used, but if used correctly, you can win, even if out numbered.
Using these spells counts as strategy which I mastered during the years of playing this.
Mostly for online players against others, as AI is too predictable.
Firewall reflects mathematically, depending on how many creatures you have, power etc.
One attack can kill some of the 7th lv creatures.
I mastered using the Fortress Properly, which works well Hydras.
Also. Unlimited retaliation works good too.
Forcefield can work wonders.
Battles can go quick.
If you can put your creatures in the right spots, you can actually barricade yourself from mighty creatures like the behemoths.
Like for example if you got many Grand Elves & you see 32 A Behemoths coming around.
Cast a forcefield after luring them near ya right near where the ammo cart is. (If you placed the elves in the upper corner.)
If dont right & you got the Power & attack like you should in a final battle, you can get some major kills.
Actually after forcefield, try cloning the Elves
You can do more damage & those clones will have to die!
Quicksand is randomply placed, so depending on where they go is how you should set up your strategy. Same as the mines, except your opponent loses a turn.
I have not used quicksand really, except for fun against the AI once.
Your opponent will expect you to lead the to a quicksand, so play it off.
Pretend you are going another way, so they will walk into it.
I dont know, quicksand is not that great.
If you can lead a powerful creature on one & that creature loses a turn, you can really get some strategy going to kill that creature!

In MP I never saw one of those three spells being used, no time for that, so I assume real game means to you MP, but why only MP is a real game I can't get it. H3 has a very large SP community and map database, and the way those are played is quite different.
This being said, force field is still the most used spell in SP custom maps, due to the necessity of casting it every 1-2 turns. I call it the cheater spell, being ridiculously efficient vs enormous stacks (example attached). Hopefully it does not work vs human or even AI hero, as they forgot to debug it, the game crashes if expert dispel is launched. There is a "fix" for WoG, but very crispy.
Well, in this movie the opponent is not particularly smart, in fact it keeps stucking all the time in same position, which makes little sense for human player.
____________ The future of Heroes 3 is here!
He asked how it is used, so I gave the only example I could find. We all agree that quick sand makes no sense vs human.
Still this battle is hard, despite how easy it looks in the video, after 10 failed attempts by the player. Calculating where a knight moves in diagonal is a matter of exercise and concentration, knowing that the human creature has 1 HP only.

well..still possible to find some exceptions...like Berserk + QuickSand if you have shooters vs 1 big stack

I am not sure of that. I noticed that slowed+berserked stacks will not move if nothing in their range. Did not test a lot still.

lol, why do all custom maps have to feature incredibly overpowered neutral units?
though, I agree that this cavalier was very dumb. and it was like he was walking on quicksand on purpose. many times he could have hit the crusader, but instead chose to move a tile further (despite the jousting bonus being of no use) and get stuck.
1) Custom maps usually have bigger armies because AI is poorly programmed, obvious. Heros can go up to 108th level, so to reach it, it needs tons of experience from battles. The goals and the fun are different from multiplayer to singleplayer.
2) The champion is not dumb, he is originally scripted to always use the jousting movement. That was the purpose of the battle, survive by predicting his moves.

Jebus was mostly made for fun, but very unbalance. Yea some maps like Jebus are set up to make you more powerful.
Perhaps to test the strategy of your generals stats & what you would do in war.

And this is because balance tends to fly out of the window. Spell power, for example, loses meaning long before that point.
