I support this thread.
I have a problem installing the beta. The beta cannot launch into Game-explorer. After installing the Ubi-gamelaunche, direct-x etc. I get this screen:
I check whether my computer needed the advised hotfix stated in the manual. Both the 32 and the 64 bit variants. Neither apply to my system, the message reads. I have updated my Windows yesterday and it is up to date.
Also note that DirectX, UbisoftGamelauncher and Visual Studio are up to date. It is after these components are checked/installed that the wizard shuts itself down.
I have encountered this problem every time I attempt to install my game, now and during the previous phase of the beta. I have tried several things to fix this problem myself. I tried shutting Game Explorer off and then on again, I even attempted to install with GameExplorer completely off. I tried turning the computer off and on again. I've redownloaded the client 2 times. I tried moving the folder to my "Documents folder", my "Downloads folder", my media drive and my desktop without any different results. I ran a virus and spyware scan on my computer in safe mode several times and after removing some offending things tried to install the client. Nothing seems to fix the problem.
I have a Dutch 2007 Vista Home Premium Edition, which is, as of 29th of june, fully updated.
I have a HP m9170.nl, with 3,00 GB Ram, an AMD Phenom(tm) 9500 Quad-core Processor 2.20 GHz. It has a 32 bit operating system. I hope this info may be of use as well.

Its not caused by your software resources. If i'm not wrong it's something that happened during the game installation and registering with windows registry.
For starters try to changing your heroes folder name from "Heroes of Might and Magic VI - Public Closed Beta" to "Heroes of Might and Magic VI"
It should be also able to be solved by going into Regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > WOW6432NODE > Ubisoft > Heroes folder > and checking/correcting instal paths in there.

Ok, so simply changing the folder-name did not work.
So, where is Regedit located?

Hnnm use the menu on left bottom side of your screen, and in the search or execute bar type regedit, it should pop out almost instantly.
Also for 32-bit systems it won't be in SYS6432node, since it does not exist in there, it will be directly in local_machine directory.

Not sure in Windows Vista (I've managed to succesfully stay away from that monstrosity), but in Windows XP, it's simply a command you can give in the "run" box. It pops up a window that shows you the registry.
BE CAREFUL WHEN EDITING THE REGISTRY! It contains everything your computer needs to know how to start up properly. Screwing up your registry can lead to an instable machine that - at worst case scenario - renders it unusable until you perform a reinstall of your OS.

Indeed, tho if you don't edit anything unecessary and stay true to instructions it is safe. To be sure here's a screenshoot
In red circle are directories you edit, nothing else. Unless you find that don't touch registry. The left side are directories, the right side are values, values are in this case game directories you have to correct.

I have problems as well, I changed the refresh rate and enabled Vsync and now it only runs as a grey square.
Also, I had to enable Nvidia Optimus manually.

Those directories do not exist on my system. Ok, well, Ubisoft Gamelauncher does, but the Beta directory doesn't. I tried making one manualy, but that doesn't work or I'm doing it wrong. (Going into the programfiles and plonking down a new folder, which does not do the trick apearantly)

Downloading it again didn't fix the problems I have. I just get a big grey screen, I do get sound but nothing on the screen. After the intro movies it crashes.
EDIT: Okay, it seems to work when I disconnect my external monitor, so I can safely say the problem has something to do with dual screen...

Okay, im back i was out, it seems that you are lacking registry entries in that case, i have prepared ready registry entries for you
1. Unpack the winrar file
2. Use the .reg file
3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_ > Software > Ubisoft
4. Fix the directories to correct this time.

Thanks a bundle.
I used them and the registries show up.
Thing is, my program files are on my C disk, not my E disk. Is there any way to change the path? Cause now it leads to a non-existant disk.

Thats why i said change the values, you doubleclick the part on the right that says "e:\Program..." etc, and then just change it to your heroes directory.
Doubleclick at:
DataPath
InstallPath
and the others
and there will be a one line possible to change, use it ;p

What system are you using and what is the regedit path? (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > ... )
@War-Overlord If nothing works, reinstall game, and ubi game launcher using administrator rights and installing it in recommended directory (do not change the default).

I'm using Windows Vista 64bit in Spanish, and I used your .reg file. I changed all names, even translating, but it still doesn't work.
EDIT: I even re-installed mannualy DirectX and the Launcher. I'm afraid of re-installing the game itself because the install crashes in the end and it wipes clear the game directory

Still no dice.
And I cannot reinstall the game, as it does not install in the first place. During the Install it is when I get my error.
As for installing it in te recommended way with administrator rights. I've done that many, many times, without result. The error terminates the install-procedure.
I've been contemplating buying a new desktop since before the beta, this is starting to shore up my determination to buy a new one.

Go to the regedit and delete following
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft
If you delete both ubisofts from there, it will have the same effect as uninstalling it (it will be on the drive to delete manually!), thus you'll be able to install it again. The only thing left will be deleting it from your hdd.
