Did anyone notice
I found some strange thing while playing Heroes V tribes of the east V2.1:
I saved the game then I went to a battle and letted the computer control my creatures. After the battle I exited the game without saving. Then I loaded my most recent save file(witch was before the battle. Then I fought the battle again letting the computer control my creatures. The battle played exactly the same with special effect triggering at the exactly the same time. I did this over and over with same results. I thought special effect had a percentage of triggering.

It does but when you load and replay step by step, same positions and moves then the battle plays out exactly like before.

are you sure it's exactly same positions? I tried replaying the same battle by slightly changing the position of units, and luck still triggered at the exact same moment each time. would it be a funny coincidence?

No. But it won't always work if you do not keep 100% same positions, one tile to the left or the right can change the outcome of the combat.

for those of you who have taken some computer science you will understand why this is:
the computer generates outcomes based on a formula known as a "pseudorandom number generator" which accepts inputs and creates outcomes - the exact same input will generate the exact same outcome, so it is not truly random
and as an aside, as much as i would like not to believe it, life itself is not random; everything has already been determined(based on influences and vectors), but we would like to believe in the illusion that we are masters of our own fates otherwise we would be driven to madness. think on that

Not me. Give me the same situation 10 times and my decision will not be the same each time. Of course that is provided that I do not feel strongly about a certain option or that it does not go against my beliefs etc. I am pretty coherent about my choices but at the same time avoid restricting myself to the same routines, even the small things. Some randomness can be welcome at times.
So what were we talking about?

it makes me think that maybe we could introduce a new perk in eternal essence, that would allow the hero to predict lucky/unlucky strikes for his units and his spells. however that sounds really powerful, no?

quantomas' mod. I don't exactly understand yet what it is supposed to be, but he says the possibilities are endless or almost. except that now, he is the only one who knows how to do.

So you're saying:
1>If we realize we are not masters of our own fates we would be driven to madness.
2>As much as you would like to believe otherwise you realize this... and therefore have been driven to madness.
3>You want us to think on this so we will believe/realize this... so we're driven to madness too.Nice.
Not that there's anything wrong with madness.
