can't host/join multiplayer game
Me and my friend recently got Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I personally like this one over some of the others, but thats just me. I thought it would be really fun if we could play a few matches together. He is new to the game and was getting rolled in single player, so I want to help him out so he can learn the ropes more or less.
I go to the tcp/ip option in the multiplayer area and the screen loads up and I go to host a game. (facepalm) I just literally may have solved our problem. When I clicked on host a game, I just left it sit there at the screen where you can choose the map and all that stuff. Do you have to start the game in order for someone searching for your IP address to be able to find it?
If that's not the problem, then I dont know. We both have set our firewalls to allow the game to go though, so that shouldn't be the problem. Other than that, I cant think on any reason as to why neither of us can see the other's hosted game, unless I just solved our problem with my previous question, lol.

Try gameranger.com for hosting a game. It is for free and just takes a few steps to create an account (both). After that, you both enter a room there, the host starts the game and both are present in that game at once. Works like a charm even for players with routers and stuff.

But when I host a game or join a game at Gameranger, I get DirectPlay error at the loading screen and the game crashes.
