can't play multiplayer with friends using IP method
Me and my friend have been trying for a while now to play together online with Heroes3. We have been trying to use the in-game multiplayer options, and can't get any of them to work. We have tried the option that you search for other's IP addresses to find games that they are hosting, and it keeps coming up that it couldn't find anything.
Is there anything any1 knows that we may be able to do to fix that problem?

I saw you posted some lines in the following thread, but have you read the very first post, where nearly everything is explained for being able to play online? Especially those things like hamachi and gameranger....
How can I solve....

Not so much a third party program - but you and your friend still need some sort of platform to meet in/at.
Angelito's link is very useful and it's a very good guide. But there are many other platforms out there
Hamachi
Tunngle
Gamespy
I would recommend that you and your friend install at least one of the above in case there are some problems with your primary pick.
