Just returned from an epic hiking trip. Mothernature may be a tough mother*ucker be we are tougher! Braving wind, rain, steep cliffs, slippery stones, mudholes and an unbelieveable ammount of piles of $hit we've managed to reach the summit of the Rotwand mountain. Quite the epic journey took us 6 hours in total. Now that we're back in civilisation all I really need is a shower T_T. I'll post pictures later.

So Dagoth made it home safely.

Joonas and Keksi are somewhere close to rostock and are going to take a Fairy (lol ship?) to Finnland tomorrow (which will travel for the retarded ammount of 27 hours). I've uploaded the pictures of the trip so they should all have them. Eitherway I won't be able to talk much about the trip today since my first priority is to update the Ares RP and then I have to pack some snow because I leave for Berlin later this night.

Anyways go nuts guys it's been an ****ing epic time, I had tons of fun and obviously it was so cool to meet you all in person angelito too of course!! He's so cool!!!!(I'll send you the pictures of our meeting too later when I'm back on the 18th or so unless the guys send them to you first). So please Dagoth, Joonas and Keksi tell them about the trip for me for the start. And post pictures! Just not of me, I want to stay EL MYSTERIOSO since I enjoy the fact that people have an image of me based on what I write, rather than having a picture of me.

oh and if Joonas calls me small don't listen to him!! I'm not small!

Forgive me for any possibly skewed chronology...

Time to recount the journey in fall, now that I've allowed some time to pass in between to sleep, eat, put on clean clothes and generally be as away from any human contact as possible for a whole day.

By the way, man, I'm so glad to have a good old French keyboard, instead of a Finnish or German one at my hands. Anyway, I will recount the epic journey chronologically from my start to my finish. The Finnish can finish with talking about their perspective, I guess.

Okay,
DAY 1:
This day went kind of disastrous for me as I had the brilliant plan to go to Germany by bike with a completely messed up bike. (You can follow on Google maps, if you so desire. It's too much of a hassle to paint screenshots from paint and upload them for making not a very funny point.) Okay, I wasn't completely retarded and went to Genk by train, cutting 100 km of the 230 km course. I arrived two hours later than planned due to having my train missed twice. One, because I forgot my cell phone and my mom would have had a stroke, if she couldn't reach me at all times in Germany. Two, because my train in Hasselt had an announcer say that my train was to arrive on track one. I had moved my clumsy toosh with huge backpack and big, gaudy bike to track one, only to see my train race past on track three. It was pretty dramatic.

Anyway, from Genk I passed Lanaker and Maastricht rather effortlessly, even though it was at a pace that would mean I'd be in Bonn at 1.00 AM, if I could keep it up, which of course, due to my low stamina and the fact that if you're going from the lowlands to the western part of German, that means you're going uphill, means I wouldn't be able to make it. After having asked for directions and having been sent on wrong trails a few times by a few Dutchmen who were very nice but who also thought they knew the way so much better than Google maps (which they didn't.)

After having accidentally broken into someone else's home, being taken in by a couple of very nice Surinamese women, having gone five kilometres off course, having begged a bus driver to take me in with bike in order to backtrack those 5 km and having had a very English-French-German-Dutch conversation with two German train conductors for taking the train to Bonn from Aachen with bike, I finally made it to Bonn. My state was deplorable: I was dirty, sun-burnt, drenched in sweat, dead-tired with all limbs aching due to the effort and salty.

No kidding, if you wiped your hand across my forehead you had very clear salt crystals on your hand. I had sweat that much in the day. Azagal took me in, offered me a shower and food that wasn't spicy at all and then mocked me for not taking the spices as well as I should and, after having talked a lot about common interests (moba-games, heroes community, maybe anime, whatever) and he was as charming and friendly as I saw him last time (which was... A year and about 9-10 months ago, I reckon.)

I had an excellent night of sleep then.

DAY 2:
We woke up rather early, did groceries and all that funky stuff. Somewhere around noon, while we were playing some lord of the rings board game, because I expressed my interest in his lord of the rings board game. Then the Finnish dynamic duo of Joonas and Keksimaton appeared by the car that broke down the previous night.
Pics: Keksimaton, Me and Joonas and trollface me and Joonas being Joonas

I can't say I imagined them differently, because I had already seen pictures of them, but it was rather awkward at the start, due to us, you know, never having actually spoken to each other, only having exchanged raw information to each other via posts on HC, HCM and MSN. I was pretty shy of topics at the start, (except for the usual, boring and uninspired "So how was your trip?") and I vaguely remember that it lasted for a few hours, though maybe it's me being shy and awkward. Joonas didn't really care and Azagal, being the social animal that he is, was above that sort of thing. The rest of the day we made food and consumed it and talked about shared interests and especially about the community, which we browsed to hunt down especially memorable posts with us being oldbies and all.

Then we played another LOTR board game, which we barely won (Well, I survived, the rest died. I call that a victory.) (In the game, each player was a hobbit and we try to get to Mt. Doom, keksi was Frodo, I was Sam, the other two were Merry and Pippin)
The game in its entirety.
I think this is Merry who is three paces away from certain death.
We also played a Jengha-esque game that I lost horribly.
An exasperated Joonas and keksi planning to give us a really hard time.
My hand reaching to make the move tha will totally bring the structure down.

I think this is us browsing HC.

Passing note: We all had a slight accent. Joonas and keksi had a slight Scottish-resembling accent at the start, because the Finnish language has a very pronounced "R." Apparently sometimes I randomly channel a British accent but it's a bit off and azagal has a very slight Germanic accent (so do I probably, but I don't hear it) and he was visibly aggrieved for me implying he has a noticeable German one.

DAY 3:
After a good night's sleep, a hearty breakfast and some hot-seated game of heroes II (which for the record, I was winning, due to azagal/ keksi being in a very poor region and joonas having a weaker faction. Balance, what's that?)
Breakfast
MOAR BREAKFAST
I eat a ham sandwich smugly.
We quickly leave after, well, a very late breakfast (brunch?) and head for Singen, a German town between Munich/ München and Bonn. I quickly turn out to have a hidden and latent talent to sleep in a moving vehicle at all times, much to the ire of my fellow passengers.

We enter the town and go eating first. We get some chinese food that has pretty good noodles and we play a game of "Idiot." which is not to be confused with the game that I know as "Durak."
Joonas driving his Subaru.
Me and keksi sitting in the back. I just slept or am about to fall asleep.
Us in the restaurant
Joonas always closes his eyes because his gaze will pierce your soul with apathy.
Joonas is tired of Azagal his incessant photographing and looks away in disgust or something.
The noodles

Now, this is the suckiest part of the journey. We went past several youth hostels and hotels, but they were all full due to some event happening nearby (I think it was the German equivalent of the tour de France.) There was one hotel, but it charged 32 Euro per person for a stay, so we were all like: "Ef that, we'll sleep in the car." And so we did and by the next morning we all hated each other fiercely. We hated keksi for drinking water voraciously, we hated azagal for not having found a good yet cheap hotel, we hated Joonas for his uncaring nature and we hated me because I loudly vocalise my complaints about the dampness and stale air and the hotness and because I stepped out to take a thirty minute walk, because I couldn't stand it any more. We woke up at approximately 6.30 AM after our horrible power nap and continued our way to the Rheinfall.

DAY 4:
The Rheinfall was pretty flipping sweet and gorgeous. It's some place on the border between Switzerland and Germany with a nice waterfall. There's a pretty sweet picture of the four of us, but since azagal doesn't want us to post a picture of him, we'll leave it, I guess.
Pwetty watewfall!
Us being gangsta as can be.
Joonas adjusts hat for max gangsta.
Keksi with his sweet fedora being all pimp.

Then we hunted for breakfast, which wasn't easy, because after we explored every flipping corner of the Rheinfall, it was still about 8.00 - 9.00 AM, which is an inhuman time to open up shop for some reason.

We entered some nice, Swiss building which asked for atrocious amounts of money where we got a drink, since it would be impolite to just leave and not having ordered anything. It cost us 20 Euro to have 4 drinks amongst us.
I look at the menu and the price tags.
Joonas explains something.
The tea was so good and so pretty, we had to take a picture.

We then went to another place that served breakfast and we didn't get a lot of food, but it was decent and it tasted okay, until we got the bill and collectively realised this meal set us back 50 Euro.

From here on we took the car and went via the the Bodensee to München/ Munich. There was a very gaudy car right in front of ours that said "I love big boobs" followed by a rendering of a botched boob job that probably appeals to the Neanderthal mind-set. I deleted it, so can't show it. You may ask azagal or Joonas or keksi for it, if you're that curious, you perv. After having suffered through my endless supply of lame "I'm on a boat" jokes, Azagal decided it was time for more pictures.
There was a rather stiff breeze.
Joonas is checing the battlefield and keksi is smiling.
Also, titanic.

In München, we got to stay at the house of a friend of azagal's. I ate at burger king for the first time in my life and we saw the movie "Alien," through which azagal mostly slept. It was a sunday, so no bars were open for a large amount of time, so that's why we stayed in. My memory is kind of blurry from then on... There must be something else we've done, because I seem to be remember it was about 9.00 PM when "Alien" was over. Maybe we played a card game? Maybe I was punched unconscious for trying to crowbar a running joke in our epic journey, I don't know.

Note: in total, we drove 2500 or so km in Germany, not counting the distance between Rostock and Bonn that Joonas and Keksi did and I hardly ever mention it, because I'm sure I slept through 80-90% of it.

DAY 5
Day five was day awesome, because we made like this huge breakfast and packed a lot of stuff for lunch and we went to the Spitsensee in order to climb a rather fun mountain.
We took a lift to a random drop-off point to start our mountain trek. Here I am aboard with Joonas and about to admit I have a small fear of heights and that I always fear the worst things when I am suspended above high ground in steel cages.
Lovely view.
We almost immediately went off-track to get to the nearest highest point, covered in mist. The view was obscured, however. Though, when the mist cleared up you could see a nice 100 feet drop.
Joonas being manly. He was like: "I want to climb that far-off mountain" and we were like: Noes! You will die! That would kinda suck!
Epic
We go down.
My fear of heights kicks in.
We climbed that.
We then went on our merry way on the normal path. We went to some forest and when we got out something happened akin to this scene. I totally yelled "it's Saruman" for three times, after which they threatened me to throw off the mountain, if I did so again. The wind was bloing pretty hard and the rain drenched us and the dirt roads were useless, due to the rain and the cow herds that lived nearby and made mud out of those roads. We encountered the cows and then azagal yelled at them for ruining the roads and consequently his shoes (which weren't suitable for hiking.)
I love cows.
Sneaky cow.
We conquered the other, higher top.
We did.
On the top there was a big-ass cross (in front of which we posed menacingly, but since azagal is in it...) and these hipster birds with collars or something.

We just conquered the top.
Hells, yes.
Angry cow.
WHAT YOU LOOKING AT?
Then we got to an inn/tavernish place, called "Rotwand," which means "red wall" in German, I think. My German is pretty sucky. There was a cat character and azagal was so jealous that it came to sit on my lap first. It didn't help that I told him that cats usually just look for the highest body temperature and people who are secretly druids; or servants of the trickster god.. We had a good Burgundian, plentiful, delicious and cozy meal.

We left and followed a good road, filled with grit, of which Joonas said: "In Finland, this would be a first class road." And azagal took a hell of a lot of nature scenery pictures of small waterfalls, most of which look like this.

We drove back to München and had an actual, productive, real life OSM conversation about the afterlife and morality and religion on our way back. Thing is, you can't ramble or insult the other person backhandedly IRL conversation, like you can on the OSM, unless you're a jackmule and we don't have annoying extremists who can barge in and derail the conversation towards boringness. This is more a qualm with the internet in general, so I can't blame HC or elodin, so I'll just blame God or something from withholding this kind of experience from the internet.

I then made scrambled eggs, for which I got a few pointers from keksi and in between Joonas and Azagal were watching funny animations about Russian roulette and German mad scientists. After we ate we watched Napoleon Dynamite, which I requested, because I was the only person in the room who hadn't seen it. I was totally enamoured by Deb, the girl with the sideways pony tail. We then slept a pretty good night.

DAY 6:
The morning of day 6 was pretty awesome. After we munched the remainder of our sandwiches and took showers we checked HC for the last time, desperately hoping to have word back from Angelito (we sent an HCM a day or two ago.) And he had replied, ten minutes before we were about to leave. We were very happy and called and met him somewhere close to... Some city... Was it Frankfurt? I forgot. I slept through all the road planning and yelling at the GPS and Azagal speaking German to people over the phone.

Anyway, we met Angelito and he was quite the jolly chap. We had a drink with him and talked about HC somewhat and had a group picture taken by the waitress. Then he lead us to a nearby auto salon that had a lot of expensive cars and the like, where we posed in front of one of his many, many cars.

GROUP PICTURES DELETED DUE TO THEM CONTAINING AZAGAL
NOTE: Edited group pictures can be found on page three.

EDIT: I'm sorry for the narrative that's becoming less interesting over time. This text is exhausting me as much as it is exhausting you.

We continued our way to Marburg where we'd sleep in a youth hostel, but first we scavenged some food. We stopped at "the spiciest place" in Marburg where keksi had a go at the spiciest thing on the menu. they made him sign a contract that made sure that we couldn't sue them if Keksi fainted or died or had any other nasty side effects from the food. After a few bites he had to stop. I tasted a few drops myself and the flames quickly fanned through my super sensitive mouth, so I can only imagine what the horror must have been for him. Then we had some dürum/ kebabish/ french fries and hamburger thing at a kebab shop and went towards the youth hostel to play some risk and sleep.
We also endured a lot of lame jokes from me about this Monsanto guy.

Now, I'll have you know that Azagal is a monstrous risk player. Our first risk game had Joonas die at the start, because I wanted to take down azagal with him, but it was impossible to do any form of diplomacy with him. Keksi was sitting quietly in the back, while Joonas does how he just does what he does and I tell him we need to kill the azagal. We laugh, but we'll be the first to los ethis game, after which it's a stalemate that a power-crazed keksi and azagal go into.

DAY 7: When we woke up we got back to Bonn pretty fast. We fixed my defunct bike somewhat (the next day I got back to Belgium in nearly twice the speed, since I didn't take wrong turns and my bike maintained higher speed a lot easier.) Last two pictures coming up.
Back
keksi can do this weird thing with his arms.

So the last time we played risk again and I managed to strike a deal with Joonas this time. We basically lynched Keksimaton and I ied third, because Joonas outproduced me and I wanted to halt him. Then azagal died, because he didn't want to anger Joonas. Third place is the second best place! It's not the last place and it's also not the first loser!
I'm kind of dead inside from so much typing, so I'll stop here. We toasted this great trip at the end of the evening and we did some more heroes 2 hot seat at some point. The next day I left by bike and Joonas and keksi left by car. Overall, the trip was a very satisfying and interesting experience. Also, I met 4 HC members. That's awesome, you guys!
