Costs, risk, expectations, competition, economic situation, demand, gamer profile are higher/more demanding/different than 10 years ago.
You should take this into account.

Blizzard has that snow named WoW to cover their ass or whatever it is in case they make a mistake. I don't think other studio has that luxury to spend as much time and resources as they can to archive their ideal game.

Actually, they scrapped more than one project because it didn't meet their standards of quality. Warcraft Adventures, for instance, detailing Thrall's rise to power, was scrapped when it was nearly finished. That was even before Warcraft3, if I am not mistaken. StarCraft: Ghost, also in development before WoW's release, was also scrapped late in development, for the same reason: lack of quality.

Sure you should take this into account, but you don't have to be genius to do that. Implement new good ideas that come from community, keep what was good from previous games in series, don't do major mistakes and all will be good.

Right now we have other situation - please, dear funs choose - RMG or Map Editor, Simultaneous turns or Town Screen etc ? It's like horror film - please choose what i have to cut you, your hand or your leg, please choose

Yes in this case they decide to loose their money but keep good reputation.

I never really understood the whole dynasty thing. But now I clearly see it's just a sneaky online DRM.

My expectations 6 months ago:
"It's going to be a great game!"

My expectations now:
"Meh..."

I still hope H6 will be great game. Not on game release, but maybe after some addons.

No matter what people say, I am looking forward to the campaigns with it's story, boss fights, etc. I've always loved the single player aspect of Heroes, but also hotseat with friends (for competitiveness!)
